Air Filter Question
How does one know when a filter may be too small for a certain application ?, If you look at my pics in the previous thread you'll see that I am a filter with a red plastic heat shield on it . I removed this and left the filter element exposed , whenever I rev the car (whilst at idle ) one can actually see the filter being sucked in , so I am now wondering what may be happening when I am boosting and the turbo is pulling harder !!.
I s this normal , do you guys get this with those large K&N kilters ??.

Wow, you must be moving alot of air to do that......or....your filter is really restrictive.
Im going to run a 4" inlet K&N (9" long) on my upgraded turbo on my T2. The less restriction the better. Get a bigger filter that flows more air than what you need and you should be fine. Stick with the K&N, they do a good job of filtering, unlike the crap *** Blitz ones that are only good for filtering out small birds. Sometimes you see japanese cars with 2 filters and 2 pipes that merge into one for a single turbo. Most likely the reason that they do this is for more filter area and thus less restriction. The long an the short of it is...you need a bigger filter area.
