Aftermarket internal wastegates

Want to create a thread on IWG options given the popularity now with IWG turbo setups.

From my experience, the turbosmart twin port units develop serious leaks after use which leads to gradual peak boost levels, more sluggish response and eventually inability to hold boost beyond wastegate pressure. This has happened twice, despite attention to make sure the rod angle is ideal. I have also had Turbosmart bov/recirc develop leaks but that is a separate issue. Even the TS manual boost controller failed years ago when I was not running an electronic boost controller.
To summarize I am done with Turbosmart products. Period.

I considered having an intake restriction however plenty of people run the same Vmount setup boosting more than i am at 20psi. No boost leaks either.

Anyone retrofit another iwg (ideally twin port) with good boost stability?

Here's my TS IWG experience....

My TS twin port IWG and didn't have good target boost control results or turbo response with it when plumbed like the BOTTOM pic.
So, I went back to the TOP pic and can control the wastegate better plumbed that way..... using a 3 port MAC valve and Haltech R3 CL BC.
Turbo spool response great and I'm using a 14psi spring with 2 turns of preload and it holds my 14, 18, 22, 24psi boost settings with no problem.
Getting ready to turn up the boost for 28 and maybe 30psi... well see if I can get it that high though.

Kinda annoyed because i was hearing the twin port was better than a single port but my results didn't show that.

Armen, how did you check the dual port actuator for leaks? Can you do it on the car?

Hey Peter, I remember my friends shop applying pressure to the port and hearing an audible air leak. Also after replacing the unit with a fresh twinport, the boost levels came back.

Currently I am using the BW medium canister with 5 turns. Its great when cold or near sea level but struggles above 17psi when its bot outside or up the mountains. This is with my boost **** turned to max ~24psi setting.

This unit looks quality but the rod is definitely too short.

The rod is called out as being a standard 1/4 UNF thread. Plenty of rod and turnbuckle extensions available in that size.
