Aftermarket Blow off Valves
Do you need a new BOV when going single? And if so, why and what considerations are there and how should it be mounted. Also, what is the best one to get (price consious...)
Thanx!

from what ive read: hks super sequential or the greddy type r. i think they're around the same price.
heard to stay away from: apexi, and the greddy type s
bov's are a must or something that everyone has, ive never seen a single without em. helps blow off excess pressure in the charge pipes between shifts. and prevent compressor surge. mounted closest to the tb.

bov's
TIAL's are the best out there point blank!! no stupid adjustment and they dont bleed off like just about every other brand including Greddy and HKS, both of them will make you tighten down the screw until you basically make it non useable!! i think they retail for about 280.0 and they are a work of art
and yes you will need a bov especially if you are going to use a small shaft (t04 series ) turbo. or you will end up with a bent turbo shaft!

Greddy Type-R or the HKS SSQV racing BOV. I am using the Greddy Type-R and it is mounted on the throttle side. Definitely stay away from the Greddy Type-S and the Apexi twin chamber BOV they sucks and they can hold higher boost applications.

Turbostreetfighter knows his ****... TIAL is the way to go when it comes to wastegate's and BOV's.. .There simply the best hands down.. Don't waste your money on H.K.S or Greddy.

The HKS (racing not SS) and the Greddy Type Rs are them best in my book. I havent seen too much of tial BOVs, maybe i will try one since turbostreetfighter is so enthusiastic

Don't say that H.k.s or Greddy are the best when you haven't seen the Tial.. You will change your opinion once you do...
And besides you have to buy the all out race model which is alot more expensive then the Tial Bov and they still can't outflow the Tial.. Go Figure..

I got a Tial for my car and it is very nice. You can definitely hear it, but I don't think it is as loud as the ones that were designed to be loud. It looks like it was just designed to work, which is what I was going for -- something that works.
I ran the car without a BOV for a little while, but it puts a lot of stress on the piping and connections. The RX6 turbo is said to be able to take the abuse, but why abuse it?
I got mine for $250 from Extreme Motorsports

Hey Maxcooper:
people who don't own one can talk all they want about their Greddy or H.k.s.
It's the people who actually own Tial who know whats up...
You couldn't of said it better, "It was just designed to work"

Im not gonna turn this into a fight. I simply said that I have not played with the Tial and that I might try it. Calm your horsies. And, I have been enjoying my Type R with no complaints and so have ALOT of other people.

hey Greg...
I not looking for a fight.. But just trying to get you to open up your mind and take a look at some other products don't get caught up with all the Brand name junk like greddy, hks, etc...

dont forget the turbo XS unit. i dont think dollar for dollar that one can be beaten. 169$, very nice construction, and flows with the best of em. ive had a greddy and the blitz, and i like this one quite a bit better. ive always been impressed with the quality of Tial stuff, but dont have any experience with their BOV.

Has anybody put an additional BOV in front of the throttle body to help keep the pressure wave from stressing the butterflies?
BTW, I have been considering Tial BOV for my 20B project. The quality looks excellent.

I'm not saying the GReddy and HKS aren't good, but just that the Tial is likely to be at least as good (probably better) and is cheaper. It is hard to arugue with top quality and performance at a lower price. And even then I am not *arguing* for the Tial over the others, just explaining what my motivation for purchase was.
The TurboXS is attractive for the same reasons, but I am not sure that its performace matches the Tial. Maybe it doesn't have to for many applications.
The GReddy would probably be best if you had to return the air to the intake, but the third gen has a speed density fuel injection system so you don't.
