I probably overtightened the worm gear clamps, easy to do with that soft hose, and damaged the hose, otherwise it may have been ok.

^^Not based on Garrett's hose. It was destroyed after a few days. The piece they provide is not suitable for the intended use, case closed.

100% agreed. The hose was deteriorated, swollen and spongy. The in-tank labeled hose that I pulled from the RP pump previously was in for 2 years and showed zero flaws. G

I pulled the 340 fuel pump and looked at the submersible hose which was supplied by Aeromotive. It looked fine with no signs of deterioration. The pump has been in the car for six weeks or so.

Glad to hear it Chris. Maybe they're sending out different brands of hose?

That would be my guess or maybe the gas blend used by 3rd gen is caustic to the hose.

I just received my Stealth pump and just for grins I also picked up a foot of Gates submersible fuel hose.

The dude at Napa tried selling me normal fuel injection line and I said it needed to be submersible. He said he worked in a garage for over 30 years and this is all they used.
A 1 foot chunk cost about $6 of normal fuel injection hose.

I went back home, checked Napa's website and found a part # of HB-209 (I think) for actual submersible rated hose. Says submersible right on the hose.

Went back and purchased the HB-209. Cost $30 bucks for a 1' length, but I will sleep better using the submersible hose than taking the guy at Napa's advice and using fuel injection hose.

If any of you guys need some submersible hose I have about 7 - 8" left off the 1' length.
Shoot me a PM if you want the remainder and we can work something out.

May not have to be E85 or race fuel different blends have different additives.

^ That may be true, but the fact is that he is filling at a normal gas station, it should not have been spongy.

IMHO, It should not matter if I fill up at a Hess, BP, or a Shell station; or if I go on a trip to another part of the country, the hose should be able to withstand the different "blends" of gasoline.

They must have switched fuel hose distributors or have received the wrong batch of hoses to put in the kits. I am going to e-mail them of these occurences. Hopefully save someone a motor down the road. G

No ****..... I wonder if the different fuels in different areas is actually valid or just some lame excuse to cover up a mistake with a poor quality hose? Dang I always though Aeromotive stuff what top of the line... Have any of you guys sent your crapped out hoses to them and see what they say? I think I would.... Might get some kind of refund for the hose replacement and maybe even labor of doing it twice. If they were a good company they would.

I would say with a half assed analysis the problem is premix. Now the question is are the Gates hoses good with premix? Maybe someone with a Gates replacement can look?

Maybe G's 3rd Gen???

My gates hose looks good, but it hasn't been in there for more than a few months, with premix.

Will this pump work with E85? And also, how do I find hose that is compatable with E85 and premix?
