AEM + single turbo
I am starting to build my first FD and I have some ???'s. Are any of you guys running the AEM ems? I need to know how to run boost control from the AEM with a single turbo setup. Do I have to get the AEM boost control solenoid?? Any help would be great. Also if anybody has any helpful tips on using the AEM I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys, Mike

I actually have a PowerFC in my FD, but when I used to have a SupraTT I had an AEM EMS in it. The best tip I can give you is go browse in the Supraforums. Those guys love the AEM EMS .... It actually seems like most people around here use other EMS's.

Will work for horsepower
I talked to Steve Kan about AEM he said setup was more difficult, i think becouse of all the rewrite issues its set up for twins and all the vacumn valves.

The main problem with AEM is user Error. If you have someone AEM Savvy, then you will love it. I'm a firm believe in AEM, I used it in my FD with my single setup and stock twins, I run it in my wifes S14, and I push it on all my customers that want to go with some sort of programmable EMS. I can see Steve's point to an extent if your used to Haltec and most other stand alones because they aren't as upgradable and you don't have to keep as up to date on things. But for people that run AEM often, you tend to keep dated on all the new things and software with AEM and end up liking it for the most part.
I've used most other Stand alones and can say I'll stick with AEM for the cars they have boxes available for and usually lean towards microtech for other applications in the rotary aspect.
To answer your boost control question, no you do now have to buy AEM's boost control solenoid, Just pick up a GM solenoid listed in this link. I believe they are around $30. All the info you need is in that thread for the solenoid number, and for actual tuning the boost control map, there is a great thread if you search for boost control that teaches it in depth.

Buellmd, There's a seperate forum for Engine management in here.
Go ask any questions you have about the AEM Unit in the AEM Section. Hopefully people surf thru there often to answer any questions for you. Good Luck
