MN ACT Maxx Xtreme feedback.

I'm looking for feedback regarding the ACT Maxx Xtreme pressure plate. I currently have an OS Giken TS2B twin and although the pedal feel is light, the noise it makes when depressed and the harsh/short engagement get annoying when driving in traffic. I drive the car on the street all the time and I have an electronic exhaust valve that makes it quiet for daily driving so these things are way more noticeable than with the exhaust open. I am looking for a setup that will hold 600whp but have good engagement. I was considering the Maxx Xtreme pressure plate from ACT used with a Kevlar disk (probably from clutch masters or such). I would rather deal with the stiff pedal and have good street engagement than a light pedal that bites. I am looking for pedal feedback from users of this PP. I will be mounted in my RX-8. Here is my build thread:

I am even considering a heavier flywheel as it will make it even more streetable (Streetlite instead as opposed to Pro-lite)l. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

What disk did you use in your setup?

Nice, but what did the pedal feel like, was it like pushing on the brake or is it manageable?

Thanks.

I have the xtreme PP and it's a qualified manageable--depending on how you want to use it. But make no mistake, it's heavy and it is work. If you daily drive in a lot of stop & go commute type traffic, it can quickly get rather annoying. In fact, I have considered going to a twin disc to get more clamp with less pedal effort, noise notwithstanding....

One other thing worth noting: I have a 10# aluminum flywheel and it works fine with the ACT setup. I would never go back to a stock or heavy FW for general purpose use.

Please elaborate. I am looking for a street clutch capable of handling up to 600whp from a 13B but with a street engagement (No 4-6 Pucks, Solid discs or twins).

Anyone else have input on the Maxx Xtreme Plate? (Must be a rare PP, not to many hits on this thread...lol)

Cheers!

The maxx xtreme is not going to give you a street feel. The xxtreme PP is incredibly stiff and I am guessing the maxx is even more stiff... which is why no one has one. You arent going to get a smooth engaging organic style clutch that can hold 600. if you do find one let me know!! YOu would probably be better off with a triple plate but I know the 6 puck I had custom made works very well and isn't too stiff for street driving.

Why not an Exedy twin plate? Will hold your power goals, and is very streetable. Depending on your exhaust, you won't even hear the noise from the discs rattling

I was thinking of having a custom Kevlar disc made to use with the Maxx Xtreme PP...

Probably because of pricing, if I were spending 1600+ I would buy the Clutch Masters FX600 (twin kevlar discs) which has very smooth engagement...I'm trying to keep the upgrade to around half of what that costs.

Might just have to wait until I can afford something like that.

Thanks.
