8psi Dyno Run Results

I put my car on the dyno today at Maple Grove Raceway bacically because it was free and was wondering what she would do. The car had 269.5 rwhp at 8psi which I guess isn't too bad. I would have cranked the boost up if I would of had a boost controller but I dont. Watcha guys think? I should be well in the mid 300hp range with just a couple more psi of boost.

For some idea of what it will make at higher boost, you can extrapolate from your recent dyno run by using absolute pressure.

270 HP / (14.7 + 8 psi) = 11.9 HP/psi

This is just a rough approximation, but it should give you some idea of how much boost you need to run for your power goals.

Nice run!

Thanks for the equation maxcooper. I think that I have alot of tuning to do with my car. I wasn't all that pleased with those results after reading that T78 thread, even though they are not all that bad. My main goal was to hit 400rwhp at about 15-17psi of boost. I dont thnk thats going to happen now. I gotta find a dyno around my area so I can get this thing tuned.

Tuning makes all the difference in the world. I have a very similar setup to yours and when I first took it to the dyno I did 292@10psi and 349rwhp@14psi on a stock 91 13BT. I have since tuned it on the street using the EGT correlated to the A/F ratio and I can tell you the car absolutely screams. Two weeks ago I ran it at one of our import events in 97 degree heat and the car ran a best of 11.8@119mph with a 1.85 60ft. on 16 psi. Last night I took it to the strip on street tires and ran a best of 12.8@120mph with a 2.3 60ft. Wheelspin in first and second is uncontrollable. This was with 15psi and pump gas.

The point to all this is that I too was unsatisfied with my first dyno results but after some tuning the car seemed to come alive and now I couldn't be happier. Just give it some time and it will work out.

Later,
Ben
