.68 turbine on FD, not good but SAFE?

.68 turbine on FD, not good but SAFE?

Turns out the turbo i bought was not a BB T-66 but rather a Turbonetics BB 62-1 (with the .70 a/r compressor). it also has a much smalle turbine than expected, a .68 with P-trim wheel. I know this is too small for a street ported 3rd gen, but will it be safe to run temporarily until I get a new housing? The small housing combined with a tubular manifold (12" ELRs) and ball bearing should make for almost instant spool, but will the top end even be acceptable? Will ti be safe to run this way at say 10psi, 15psi? Will my T'netics Progate be able to handle the extreme venting needs?

Thanks for any and all help. The hits just keep on coming. I've bought so many mis-represented parts it's unbelievable.

also will a P-trim garret turbine bolt up and work with my turbonetics p-trim stuff?

It'll work, but I wouldn't want to run over 10 psi. Your EGT's will be HOT. You can get bigger A/R turbines for next to nothing on ebay and or forums. I'd stick to either a .84 or 1.00 A/R for divided set ups or .81 and .96 for non divided. YES any Garrett, Innovative Turbo Systems, AiResearch, etc. etc. anything T4 sized and a P-trim will fit your turbo (their ALL Garrett clones).

I understand that, I'm saying is it safe to run at 10psi until i get a larger one. I'll be going for a 1.00 divided I think, running 17-18psi on the street? Looking for around 450whp at 18.

also does Garrett make a turbine that works with a P-trim wheel? it seems garrett has an endless list of trims. i've foudn t4 tang housing right around 1.00a/r on eBay for next to nothing, but none of the wheels match up exactly.

also running a divided housing with a non-divided manifold won't hurt will it? I know I won't se the benefit and flow will be cut down slightly, but I will move to a divided manifold soon enoough.

The center divider on the casting will crack fairly quickly as it gets smacked by hot gasses directly so it heats up and expands quicker casuing it to crack. I have two houesings at my house that that happened two (I bought them used, just for the center sections, and compressors) I asked the previsou owners what type of manifold they used and they both were using the HKS cast undivided. If you are looking at swapping off the houseing later then no big deal, but I would not run your new houseing on it until you get your divided manifold.
