My friend is going to be running one in his FC probably with a T04S. The engine isn't even together yet, but the porting is done and should be put together in a few weeks.

What makes the Cosmo 13B-RE engine that much different than a 13BT or a 13B-REW?
Turbo applications work for all these engines...

In what way?
Are you talking about cross sectional area of the intake ports of both the primary and secondary?
Or are you talking about just the secondaries?

I think the 13B-REW has more cross sectional area of both the primary and secondary intake ports.
If you're talking secondaries, then you're correct.

But, I still don't see how this affects turbo sizing?
Displacement is still the same, right?

My brother has a TII powered by an RE with a GT40 turbo. He's working out the bugs, will put in a Microtech soon too. That being said, no dyno # yet.

im currently working on putting an RE into my FD. i have not yet decided on what turbo set up to go with. All of the intake ports are massive in comparison to the FD ports, but the RE exhaust ports are noticeably smaller. This is playing a factor into my turbo decision. i am pretty sure any of the fd kits fit ok on the RE.

Consider using FD housings...

Both the primary and secondary ports are larger in cross section on the Cosmo than on the REW , I am having my REW ports opened up to the Cosmos' size as we speak. The Cosmo produces more mower and torque at a lower boost and RPM than the REW .

There are simmilar threads to this one throughout the forum. I recall reading 2 or 3 where a stock ported RE was able to muster 390ish to the ground on a t04s. So im hoping for around there. Do a search in the single turbo and rotary preformance sections. More information there than you think

I have a TD07-25G on my stock port 13b-re. I'm guessing ~350rwhp at 15psi. The spool is very fast, I wish I had a bit larger turbine housing to try.

I'm using a GT4082 on a ported Cosmo 13B with FD exhaust sleeves. Full boost just after 4K rpm rolling into the throttle from low rpm. Made 406rwhp and then 396 with Steve Kan tuning the second time. Great midrange/torque.

The Runners on the RE are also significantly larger than both the 13B-REW and the 13B-T. The exhaust ports are also signficantly smaller, to provide more low end torque since it was in a luxury car. Most people I know who run or have run them switch to either 13B-REW or 13B-T housings to allow greater exhaust flow. NOTA944 was running a 1/2 bridged 13B-RE with 13B-T housings. He was also running a GT40 not sure on the exact specs.

The secondary runners on the 13b REW and the 13b Cosmo are the same , however the primaries on the Cosmos are larger.

RE has 40mm

At the flange of the Upper Intake Manifold/LIM the REW bores are 35 & 38mm. The RE has 40mm on all four bores. One big difference is the nice large sweeping turn instead of the sharp 90 at the port.
Barry
Cosmo RE (Ito template) Street-port, Teflon/silicon combustion seals, 2-piece 2mm Mazda apex seals,TO4s, Magnacore wires, HKS cast divided Manifold, 50mm Wastegate, A'PEXi PFC, 550 & 1600 injectors, Supra Pump
PFS IC, Full 3" SS exhaust with RB Muffler. ACT Extreme pressure plate.

Erdin, I haven't had it tuned yet, need a datagogit ( backordered). Have been driving like my mom. Probably will have Steve Kan tune it if we can get him down to New Orleans. Will post if it's newsworthy.
