1300 cc injector failure rate

I have heard when these are modified (850 cc to 1300 cc) there is a high failure rate...Has anyone had experience with this or heard about it?

I've had mine for 20K miles now with no problems. I purchased mine from SR sports.

if you get them done at RC engineering, they will flow test it after the rebuild, and ship the injectors back to you with the flow charts. They don't usually have any problems... Sometimes faulty electrical system can cause them to stick open or get them too hot.

are the 1300 cc injectors consider high or low impedence? will the power commander FC work on low impednece injectors?

They're high impedance. If you wire resistors inline with low impedance injectors you should be able to use them.

13bace, "wire resistors inline" are you talking about the ECU itself?
so the power fc commander will not work with low impedence injector? i though the power fc commander is a stand alone computer not a piggy back?

1300 injectors are modified stock injectors. Stock (and 1300) injectors are high impedence.

The PowerFC works with high impedence injectors like the stock or 1300cc injectors. I would be surprised to hear that it worked well with low impedence injectors without a resistor. The risk is that you will damage the injector driver circuit by running too many amps.

"1600"s are low impedence injectors. You can run a ~10 Ohm resistor in the injector signal line (just splice it into one of the wires going to the injector -- it doesn't matter which one). Make sure you get a resistor that can handle the amperage and harsh environment.

Like maxcooper said, just wire the resistor into one of the injector's wires. A 10 ohm 20 watt resistor should do the job. The PFC isn't a standalone like other systems.

maxcooper, thanks, on my stangs, i have to run a low impedence injector driver. i guess it's a little different. so 1300cc is the biggest high impedence injectors right?

Loi,

The low impedence injector driver sounds like an interesting device and sounds like it might be useful for RX-7s, too. Where do you get them from?

I got them from EFI system, company who developed the PMS, the owner is Doug, i knew him pretty well, here is the link. www.efisystems.com they do sell a piggy back system for the FD. I'm currently running on my stang. I may go with the pms again on the fd if the power fc commander don't work out.
