Vosko give us the breakdown.
The turbo is around 1400. Mani 500ish? BOV=150? WG 450, custom DP 200. Random hoses/bs 200. that's about $2900 for parts. Another 3k for labor and tuning?

your also paying money for their R&D.....btw going single has a lot of hidden costs (labor, upgrading fuel, dyno tunning, and the list continues). Resource is right when its about $8k but theirs also ignition, and other little things. Just overestimate the cost to save yourself some burden. If you can do all the labor yourself then you'll save a good amount of money. Good Luck and see you on the other side

The Ricer Eliminator
I'm planning on spending around $8,000, possibly $9,000. I'm doing a lot of stuff though.
I'm buying the turbo kit, a front mount intercooler, a radiator, Apexi ECU, upgraded injectors, possibly a fuel pump, a boost controller, a Corvette air pump, and probably more that i'm forgetting.
I'm taking my time, doing it right, and it'll probably be 6 months before I have the parts, and then another few months before I have the money to get it all put in.
I've done things wrong, i've been given wrong advice, and i've tried to be cheap............not any more.
This time, I do it the right way, and i'm not trying to save any money. I'm willing to wait for it as well.
Hell, my Monte is enough to take most of the ricers in the neighborhood anyway.

I respect that and have always been one to spend extra to avoid headaches. However, turbo kits, at least the ones I've seen advertised, are more or less a bunch of off the shelf parts in one box instead of many boxes. For some reason selling all the parts together seems to add about 900 onto the retail cost of the individual components. R&D comes in with manifold and DP design-that's why manifolds cost $400-800 amd dps $200, but that shouldn't be added to the kit price. If a shop is doing the install, they can cut a couple custom oil lines-they probably won't even charge you for it. If that is over their head they probably shouldn't be doing the install to begin with.
I'm sorry if I'm beating this to death, but it just seems like people are getting ripped off. The easiest way to see this is by going to any shop webpage, looking at the contents of a turbo kit (especially 3540s) and piecing it together using individual parts from the same website. Unless the turbo itself costs over 2 grand (doublt it considering one friend got one for $1100 and another could get one for $1350 as recently as last week) the total cost seems to be off by quite a bit. I noticed the RX7 store kit has a polished turbo maybe that and a few othere details like that account for the price. I don't mean to pick on jason either, because all shops seem to price them around that range.
Jim how's your main cat? My neighbors are greatful it's no longer on my balcony

The cat is fine. I bet your neighbors are glad. My land lady is little tired of seeing stuff lying around as well.
The main reason I look at kits is that everything is there already. I don't have the time to be looking around at indivdual components. I will look into it though. You're absolutley right about the price being more for the kit, than if you bought them seperately. That's a $900 convenience charge.
Where are you looking for the individual parts?
