wiring harness and ecu question
wiring harness and ecu question
i have a 87 sport with a ecu (n326) and i just got a wiring harness from an 88 vert and the high imp. injectors. can i use my current ecu. if not will the ecu out of a 88 coupe(n327) work or do i need the ecu out of a vert(n338). any info would be greatly appreciated(sp?) as this is my DD and its been down for two weeks now.thanks in advance.
ive run into the same problem (high injectors on an ecu that is programmed to run low) and there is a way to fix it but im trying to figure out how. you can use resistors or somethingl ike that.

The 88 vert is wired more like a turbo than a non turbo
because there was a mistake when i got the harness. they guy i got it from thought it was from a 87. so i got it from him and went to swap harnesses and we noticed it was not the same called him up and he realiaed it was out of a vert(long story). so to try and save time since the harness is all hooked up we were just gonna get the right ecu instaed of take the UIM off again and send this harness back and having to wait for someoen else to get one to me.
You need to install a solenoid resistor pack into the new 88 harness.
It's not the ECU that makes the difference b/t a car that has high or low impedence injectors.
You NEED to install either the resistor pack OR install a six to ten ohm resistor in each injector circuit.
A solenoid resisstor pack looks like this: http://www.teamfc3s.org/forum/showth...threadid=31110 the words on that jpg were directed to someone other than you....but might apply in some fashion.

im using the high impedence injectors so i dont need the resistor pack. i got the injectors with the harness. so i should be fine to just plug the harness into my 87 ecu.
IF you have high impedence injectors you do not need the solenoid resistor pack. The ECU will do just fine. There is no such thing as ECU the uses high resistance injuector and an ECU tha uses low resistance injectors.
But the the injector circuit needs to have a given resistance to the ECU. This is done using high resistance injectors on 87 1/2 and newer cars and on the older cars its done using a solenoid resistor pack.
Use the new harness along with the high resistance injectors. But never use it with the low resistance injectors.
