20b Teaser audio and video clip :)

Well I've been apart of this forum for a number of years but I have always mostly been silent when it comes showing off my projects. Well the time has come to start opening up just a little bit. The two vids are of my NA 20b with ITB's.

I've had numerous request for pics and videos as of late since I've done so much fabrication. The engine isn't currently in the car right now and running on a roll around cart that I converted into an engine breakin/test stand. When the engine 1st fired up while originally in the car, I ran into some minor issues that required attention (oil leaks, fuel leaks, intake leaks ect). Since I moved the engine back 5 1/2" in the Fd, the intake is partially tucked under the firewall. So every time I needed to fix something, I had to partially move the engine forward to repair. Talk about time consuming. That's why I did the test stand. It's sooooo much easier having unlimited access. Plus I've now modified the intake to be easily removed while in the car. Anyways I digress!

Now the video quality is poor for a reason as I'm not ready to actually show off all the fab work just yet. Those with keen eyes will notice certain things.

Yea it's pretty much an early base tune. A/F ratios are around mid 12's when holding revs at certain rpms'. Gotta lean it out some. When it's fully warm it idles at 750 and A/F ratios at 13.7 I'm gonna try negative split and see if I can get the ratios into the 14's. This weekend I'm going to tune the upper rev ranges (5-8k rpms). This is my 1st ever fabrication and ecu wiring project so I'm really excited about it running pretty well. I guess I did something right. I'll try to get a muffler end rev video up this weekend. The Magnaflow sounds sick in person.

Funny you should say that. When I 1st read about 20b swaps back in 1998, I always wanted to hear the exhaust note. That's when I found the site 3rotor.com. I completely fell in love with all those audio clips and knew right then I had to have that engine. I can't believe it's been 11 yrs since I read that Sport Compact Car Pettit Banzai 20b article.

Yea some of the fabrication is a little ugly right now but the intake is really top secret. LOL! Gotta clean it up a bit and add some more stuff to it. The exhaust is actually more quiet than this. I fabricated the center section with a cut-out that feeds back into a hi-flow catalyic converter and out the muffler. Right now my cut out is stuck open. I designed it so that the cutout opens at 4,500rpms. This will allow me to drive around with it fairly quiet while cruising.

sounds great! i like the test stand too, very neat...

this is old info, but my 3 rotor ran best (best throttle response etc), when i got the afrs to be uniformly about 14, in vacuum. mine was turbo though

Finally got some things sorted and the engine in the car. I still got a ways to go. Engine is coming back out this week for my final stage experiments. Just wanted to post a current vid before I start tear down again. After getting the fuel and timing sorted, throttle response is much improved from my 1st vids. Bottom end is very nice as at 5mph, I can role on the throttle in 1st and spin the tires. It still has stock tires for now though. Porting is still stock!

Thx! Wish I could progress a little faster. Now that it's in the car, I'm currently in a position to start tweaking some of the drive train related fab work. I have some refining to do. I can't stand a noisy street driven car. I've already had to go ahead and shorten a PPF and use it in place of my tranny and diff mounts I made earlier. They worked great for wheel spin (which is non existent) but even with rubber bushings to isolate drive train vibration, it still wasn't good enough. Now my differential is going out as there's way too much play in the axle. Modding is a never ending battle.
