Are you saying the car dies as you let off the clutch whilst you are in gear, like starting to take off, or that it dies unless you keep the clutch pedal depressed?
Can you start the car in neutral and then let off the clutch and keep it running?
I mean, I am assuming you aren't just stalling it by not giving it enough gas whilst taking off....?

Faulty neutral switch would be my guess, but I'll defer to the 5-speed guys on this one.

Er...what?

Did you BUY the car this way? Did it ever start and run right?

Give us the entire background of your ownership of this car.

I would start with a new transmission then see if that at corrects the problem. Do a compression check to start with though. Let me know if you need any help. I am pretty good with an FD so pm me if you need help.

put a new gearbox in it then. kind of a stupid question don't you think? do you know how a manual transmission works? you're probably stalling the car against some jammed/wrecked gears since the shifter doesn't work.
