2,5" inch piping will be OK and you could keep PS no problem....

thats a big intercooler for 350rwhp.. i like smaller intercoolers for less lag, but thats just my me. Im running a 12x9x3 fmic, planning on no more than 350rwhp. The highest TB intake temps ive seen so far was ~105 F, in the summer on stock turbo. usually its in the 90's F

the other thing is, with a big *** 12x24 intercooler, only half of it will see direct air flow through the bumper, unless you cut your bumper up.

so, its an investement in the future
i will cut my bumper a lill bit up so that i get as much airflow as possible...

Assuming proper ducting, the inlet should be about 1/4 the area of the intercooler core. The S4 inlet is about 71 sq in, while the S5 inlet is about 87 sq in.

Contrary to popular belief, I am not obligated to take time out of my day to answer questions on this forum. I do enjoy discussing technical issues, but there is a point where a minimum level of competence is required. I'm sorry, but explaining why cutting up a bumper is a bad idea drops well below a reasonable level of competence, and I see no reason to further discuss the issue. It should be of no surprise that rudeness will not cajole me into changing this decision. I wish you well on your path of learning, as you seem to have a great need.

@Evil Aviator

i really don't see the point why this would be a bad idea?

maybe i will try to explain you the way how i'm thinking... (a little bit hard for me because english is a foreign language for me...)

When i cut the bumper, there would be more direct airflow onto the Intercooler, so more heat from the IC will be transfered from the core to the air flowing trough...
maybe you mean issues with the airflow going trough the FMIC and then trough the water radiator? so that i will "kill" the flow/suck trough the radiator... is this the point?

i'm very intrested why this would be a bad idea... of course i will not cut my bumper when there is no need to cut it... i don't needthe bling* effect, i will paint that thing black for understatement

maybe you can give me a little hint to think that thing over again...

and its no problem if you don't give me the exact answer, i like to get the point by myself... because it has a better learning effect... things you learn with thinking yourself about a problem you will never forget

I do have a great need for learning. In fact it is one of my greatest passions in life. I am knowledge junkie. im only 22 and have owned my rx7 ( 1st FC, 1 FB before that ) for just over 1 year. in that time i have blown up and refited an new block and had many trials and tribulations along the way. Now i am in a good space with a well running car and i want to make it better and to do that i need to know stuff.

I will try and find out why this is and if i do post it up for other people who arnt as knowledgeable as yourself.

Sorry for being rude. It wasnt necessissary and i got frustrated as i was looking foward to the answer.

Peace

I think evil assumes that you are cutting the structural bumper, not the airdam. you can cut the airdam up all you want, long as you duct it properly afterwards.

thx patman, thats a good point

of course it would be worthless to cut the bumper if i don't duct the airflow as it should

I believe a good read would be if you look at a book called Street turbocharging by mark warner( werner) i dunno / or maximum boost< classic by corky bell there are some good pages on ducting , physics of air as a fluid, core thickness to realitive cooling capability all kinds of shiz the average Person dosent think about before HACKING up a nice fron end or buying a intercooler that 9" thick

what an ***. and how long did it take you to type this response?? i dont see why cutting the bumper would be bad for performance either, if you are referring to the bumper support, the greddy kits require you to remove it anyway so that doesnt make sense either
