Hey, Maryland S5 owners!

Hello, S5 owners, you may have heard of the ZEMS, but if you haven't, check out https://www.rx7club.com/group-buy-center-69/zeal-engineering-plugnplay-megasquirt-group-buy-533404/

Anyway, as you might have noticed, only an S4 unit is available. This is because we don't have any S5 test cars.

So, if you have a good-running S5 (Either N/A or TII), and don't mind driving to Silver Spring, please PM me! We could use your help. The car MUST have a stock S5 wiring harness!

Just in case you are wondering, we don't have to break anything, or cut anything. This is a plug-and-play unit and you can watch what we do so you can be sure we wont hurt your ride.

There is no risk of us destroying the engine, and we shall cover the costs incurred (if any).

In exchange for you letting us use your vehicle as a testbed, we can fix problems with your ride, and/or offer a ZEMS at cost for materials.

Hmm, I'm interested as I would like to see a system available for the S5 TII. What sort of legal documentation can you supply the volunteer(s) with to back up you funding repairs (if needed) in the case of a blown motor?

Hello riverzendz,
We are currently working on the legal documentation for such an agreement. We will keep you posted.
Thanks!

Much appreciated! If I do decide to volunteer for this effort I would like to set up a time with you guys to drive up and check out your operation. If you don't mind of course. At least to shoot the **** a bit and get to know you (the company?) a little better.

Sounds good to me!

So it looks like we're going to have one volunteer, anyone else?

Hey Jason.

I'm thinking about buying an unmolested 91 GXL with a blown motor. If everything worked out and I got the car and a rebuilt or used motor, if you helped me swap the motor, I'd let you keep the car for testing until you were done.

How does that taste?

When do we get started? Just so you know, being about an hour away, weekends work best for me.

We can probably meet up first before we discuss anything else.

It's going to be a little while before we have a prototype adapter board to test with, and that version will most likely not control the OMP, so premixing would be necessary. ( I need a spare OMP to at least experiment with in order to figure out how to control that).

I'm out, I'm using the AP engineering power FC, stock harness, with the FD map sensor and intake sensor, no AFM.

I've never seen anyone running a similar setup. I've heard of a few people in the states modifying the FD ones to work with an FC, but havn't seen them.

You guys consider splicing an FD (Or GM 3-bar) map sensor in and using that instead of the FC AFM?

Nothing you have listed excludes you from this. As long as you have a stock harness.

The MegaSquirt ignores the stock map sensor and AFM. It has its own MAP built in.

The only sensors it needs are the CAS, Coolant, and Intake temp. A plus is having the stock TPS (Doesnt even have to be adjusted, the MS does that for you, just cant have any dead spots).

Neat, the only things i've done with the stock harness is add two grounds, one for the map sensor and one ground to the sensor loop (runs through the coolant temp sensor, tps, etc..) Mainly as troubleshooting steps, but the car runs much better with the grounds.

How long would you need the car for? S5 TII. I could leave it on weekends...

It is hard to gauge the amount of time we would need, due to the nature of R&D. Also, after that is done, we test each unit that we build, so it depends on demand, really.
