Vulcan Autoworx Sleepy Eye Kit
Not there yet. But close. Trying to rekindle this thread and see what the interest is after waiting all this time.
I'd like to start a new thread (and still might) but I don't want to lose everyone that has subscribed to this thread for all these years.

Wow a whole new bucket? Do you plan to have it in metal as shown or 3D printed in plastic or fiberglass like the original OEM buckets?
I'm sure that eliminates a lot of the installation time from Dan's original.
Those are Hella Projectors, same one Dan used originally.
I've never really cared for the body color on the Hellas (Brown-ish high beam and silver body on the low)

Thank you so much. Obviously we both know this is a long time coming. Thank you for your vision, trust and patience.
Like silentblu said below, all Hella. Nothing but the best.
Yep. Whole new bucket. Nothing else *really* makes sense. With parts for these cars becoming more rare everyday - why would anyone want to chop up a set of OEM buckets that fetch $300-$500? Plus, what if you want to go back to stock? And yes, install time and margin of error are also reduced/eliminated.
The buckets will be sheet metal and powdercoated black. The shrouds will be vacuum formed.
I don't love the brown on the housings either. There's the chance we run high beams in the projector housings which are black:

My concern with this is the "throw" on high beams. Since technically, they're low beam lamps.
The other option is the new "premium" 90mm lamps, which are actually dual low/hi beam:

Yeah. That's where these will be as well. I mean, just the lamps themselves are close to $500. Never mind the shrouds which also require molds, buckets which also require jigs, wiring and actuators, adjustable arms... and of course, time. Start doing the math and a kit under $1000 is vastly cutting corners... somewhere.
At the end of the day, keeping pop-ups with upgraded looks/performance without any sacrifice in quality is the goal.

I am in. I knew we weren't going to be under $1k but hopefully not too much more. Ready for some actual upgraded lighting and the looks as well. Been waiting a LONG time for this to actually get close. Very excited to see some progress on this again.

Get this kit to bolt on no fab status and I will buy it.
That's 100% the plan. No other way to do it.
Exactly. The KS kit was always my favorite, but when I saw these, I knew it was the natural evolution. The trick was making them into a proper "kit". I think we're almost there.
I had these Hella 90mm lights on my FC when I had Need-a-T2 headlight kit. The low beam was a projector style and had a very sharp cut-off. The high beam was this brown one in your pictures. The throw on the high beams was amazing.
The Hella lights are the real deal. SBG HID kit is probably the BEST kit currently available, but these Hella lights are a very close 2nd place.
On my FC, the original headlights were downright scary in terms of brightness, distance, and spread. The Hella lights were crazy bright, and the sharp cut-off on the low beam made sure you didn't blind other drivers. The high beams could almost be used as landing lights on a small plane, they are that good. With these lights, you were not left wanting more. It's hard to imagine a HID setup being much of an improvement, and I've yet to drive a car with factory HID lights better than these.
Now, in case my opinion may seem biased, consider the cars that use these EXACT Hella lights as OE:
2005 Ford GT
Noble M400
McLaren F1
I liked them enough that I kept them after I sold the FC, in hopes that I could score the Hyperion kit for my FD, but unfortunately they no longer produce them.
I do have a point to all this, if anyone is REALLY bothered by the BROWN housings, you should reconsider your priorities. The light output is fantastic, the color will not be seen with a shroud, and the lights are only gong to be seen at night. Who's really going to notice??
If I had to guess, the housings are brown to deal with the heat from the bulbs, unless things have changed, they used H9 65 watt bulbs.

^^ Agreed. The hella H9'S projectors provide fantastic lighting. The kit that I have now has those and I am extremely happy with them. I took these pictures for a forum member a while back:

With regards to the brown coloring: The shroud should cover it. Plus if you think about it, the only time the lights would be up is at night (unless you are one of those guys
).

Quoting dates is such a slippery slope. What I can say is that this thread (and probably another here soon) will be updated as we get good news.
Right now, that good news is: we have a working prototype and the means in which to produce it. However, we are at the whim of Hella for supply of lamps and the whim of our fabricators for supply of buckets.
The last thing I want to do is start making promises we can't keep. Soooo, right now I'm just trying to rekindle this a tad and get some loose estimates of what the interest looks like. Most likely, we'll do a run of 50 and if those sell out - then we'll decide what to do next.

I'm interested depending on timing. My finances are committed elsewhere at the moment, but if it's going to take another few months to get this rolling I should be good to go on the buy in. Can you link to the new thread in here once available?
Same here. When you want something done... right?
Of course. Sounds good.
WORKING ON IT! :P
