Hey guys just got my new coolant gauge from prosport and I was wondering instead of tapping or ordering an adaptor can I not splice the 2 wires into the two wires currently on the probe for the #2 water temp switch on the back of the thermostat housing? Or do I have to use the matching sender for that gauge?
You can use the existing sensor, but it's resistance range must match that of the sensor that came with the new gauge. If the sensor resistance range is the same, you can not run both gauges off the same sensor.
Which sensor did you have in mind? If it's the one on that back of the water pump housing, you would loose the auto-choke feature. I added a new temp sensor to the water pump neck using an old style one.

What is that water pump neck off of,I like how you put the sensor on it,and never saw one that has that flat part on there where you mounted it
Jeff is correct, it's from a REPU 13B. I also used a 1986-1988 aluminum water pump housing and tapped the extra rear sensor for another water temp sensor. This allows me to measure the water temp before and after the thermostat.
