Question Pettit Racing

Let me chronicle this:

1) Bought a used Pettit BBK off of board member
2) Called pettit and ordered new SS lines for the BBK and rebuild kits (o-rings) for the calipers
3) Got some lines and rebuild kits in 5 days (cool!)
4) I rebuilt the calipers and took them to a shop for them to bolt the kit on and flush the fluid to motul 600

First Issue:
5) 2 days later, shop calls "Man these rotors don't fit, they rub the spindle when tightened down."
6) Call Pettit and after about 2 days they say, "Oh you have to shave the spindle on SOME FDs." I thought, "that is strange, do FDs have different hub/spindle design?"

Second Issue:
7) Shop mods spindles and installs rotors, then I get a call "These are the wrong brake lines dude, they are stock SS lines."
8) I call Pettit and explain the situation (i need the car for track day, wtf?) They are GREAT and OVERNIGHT the BBk ss lines to the shop for free, with the promise I'll send back the other lines.

Third Issue:
9) I get a call today.. "These new lines fit the calipers but not the car. We need an adapter to screw them into the FD hard lines."
10) I call Pettit and the owner is gone, and they have no clue at this point. They basically cannot help beyond telling me they'll ask the owner next week.

Obviously they are trying really hard and even overnighted me some lines.. But as you can see, it is still frustrating.. The BBK advertisement has no mention of the need to modify the spindle. And the brake line issue is pretty silly...

So the car remains sitting in the shop, awaiting some way to connect the lines. The shop is going to see if they can find some sort of adapters locally...

As much as I hate to admit it, because I grew up loving Pettit cars, they are now a thing of the past. The shop works more on government products and distribution than on building FDs. Don't get me wrong, they still have some good parts, but since Jeff the parts manager left (and he really drove the parts side) they are like a chicken with their head cut off. I do not blame them, better money in gov work anyway. Oh well....

No way, Jeff left? I haven't been in contact with Him in a couple of years. My car was all Pettit at one time. I would talk with Jeff for quite a while on the phone even was going to do some work for them at one time. Can you still get in contact with Jeff (mirabile).

I called them again and the guy that was helping me, James, is no longer working for them, lol..

Anyway, the owner helped me since he knew I actually was supposed to have adapters for the lines. He didn't have them in stock but described them enough that I was able to get a set locally from a race shop.

Car is now driving.
