GotJDM.com - For buying a J-Spec S4

Gave them a call today, they seemed pretty friendly. They say they compression test the engines in Japan before they ship them to the US and again before they ship them to the customer. They're asking 1200$ for an S4 TII engine (no tranny, harness or ecu), shipped with a 3 month warranty. They seemed pretty reputable and seemed like that was a decent price. Anybody have any experience buying from them (whether it be an engine or parts)? I'm getting ready to do a TII swap and I want to at least have an engine that will hold out for a while.

If i were you i would save up and buy a rebuilt engine, in that way you know that the engine you bought is in good standing. But is your call after all... i never heard of them, but seem legit... G/L

He doesn't have any in stock. His next shipment is on the 24th. Both of their prices are about the same.

3 month warranty from GotJDM. However I'm leaning towards waiting for Japan2LAs next shipment.

J2LA would be a running motor and he is on the forums. Worth the wait IMO.

it may be just another thing to Bitch at..But If you are Telling the guy to By from "so and So".shouldn't you at least Get his Name Correct?..JAPAN2LA..I Just had to say it..My reason IS: if there is Some "asshat" going by the Other Name given up here, and the Guy Buys an Engine from him,and Gets Screwed..See Where I am going here?(no offence Taken,I hope)..JAPAN2LA has a very Good Reliability Rating, and Sells Good Engines, among other things..I just would like to Point the Guy in the appropriate Direction....If there happened to be another Similar Named Guy out there,by the "abbreviated Name posted".(you never Know.).

GotJDM gets their motors from Osaka Japanese. If you buy from them, your card statement will show that Osaka actually charged the card in Canada. This saves you tax, but also complicates things if you need to claim on the 3 month warranty.

That being said, I actually just bought a S4 TII motor from GotJDM since they are local for me. I knew I was taking a risk, but I planned on dropping any dead motors on their doorstep if that was the case. Fortunately, I received a motor that appears to have been rebuilt in Japan and has 120 PSI front/ 115 PSI rear on all faces. No signs of oil or coolant seal damage, so rebuilding now would be overkill. Bottom line: it's a gamble, so if you're not in southern CA, I can't say I'd recommend it if you don't want to rebuild it anyway.

I had originally planned to buy a motor from Japan2LA, but he sold his S4 TIIs back in June, and is apparently in Japan until the middle of this month.

Thanks for all the info, I'm gonna wait for Japan2LA's shipment to hopefully get one. Unless people have some more info on GotJDM.
