not including shipping. Yes group buy is still available. Once we come out with the hood, group buy will be closed.

Ken, I didn't look when I stopped by, but will you guys be keeping the holes for the washer fluid sprayers on this hood? It looks like the one you got from japan has them.

Possibly... I hung out with the rx7 club up there like 1 or 2 times... After that everyone went ghost... I think Rich was the president of the club... When I was there about a year and a half ago I was in the pharmacy program at UF of Shands Hospital. I got offered a really good job so I came back home to begin my new "career" while I am still in pharmacy school pursuing a better career. When I was up there I had a primered GXL (that used to be pink.) Since moving from there I did a 13BRE swap on the GXL and sold the car to someone from this forum. Now I have an 88 Base model (just got it for $400 bux becuase the **** flooded it and thought the engine was gone...?) and an 88 Vert.

Alright guys........we have a dilemma and we would like some feedback on this.... There's a reason why we've been working on JUST prepping this hood for a LONG time. Simply because it needed ALOT of work and still does. It was wavy as hell..........

Now we've done prepping it up and test fitted it again today and its not looking too good. Here are pictures. Keep in mind this is the still the actual part, not OUR part.

Looked as wavy as this one if not more....

I personally dont like the way the hood turned out and it upsets me that we spent so many countless hours on it. Not to mention all the inquiries and questionares I had to answer regarding it's status. Now you guys know why it's taking so long. We're don't slack around, but this hood is almost impossible to make perfect.

I think we might need to work with a stock NA hood...........anyone have one they're willing to donate?

Ken

It's too hard to fix. It would be easier to start off with an oem hood and work from there, but that means we have to start the project all over again.

I have a local buddy who has plenty of N/A hoods, he parts out FCs and restores most FDs if possible. I could get one for roughly 20-40 bucks, don't know how much he'd charge you though.

Stock NA hood

Sent you a PM regarding a stock hood, aluminum one in this case.

Let me know. I'm not far from you, located in Chino Hills.

Ken could this miss alignment be from the car itself ? Being that the car was taken apart and put back together ? Also how long if you have to start the project over ?
Thanks Robert

i think thats your best bet... use a stock hood and graft the scoop on... then it will fit seamlessly......

We understand the delays and trust you and the company you represent. Im sorry it seems so many hours have been wasted, but soon enough you'll have the other half of all of our deposits.

Looking forward to the finished product. I think we're all happy that you guys showed us this problem instead of just shrugging it off and selling us an 'unfinished' product and calling it good.

anywho yeah, thanks for telling us about the mis-alignment. i'd rather have a shines sexy style perfect hood than a jdm fucked up wish it was sexy hood.
plus, this will just give me time to save a few more bucks for the paint

will shine be selling the original once this is done? I'd be interested, as I don't mind the wavyness/bad fitment so much for my track car, and am too broke to afford a nice one which I would love to have...
