Well the FD cap is I believe well blow $100. As I stated before, the FC cap is smaller, but we have two cutouts. Maybe it'll be a wash.

You need to actually get the product in first right, so you can make a mold of it or however you do it? If you need to get them, they have them on rhdjapan.com for like $180 shipped.

 

Shine will get the product if they choose to make it. I am sure they can get it cheaper than $180 (and I don't think they would buy it from RHDjapan)

LOL, if you want stainless steel, go to home depot and get a square foot of metal sheet. Cut it out and rivet it to your bumper. Wait, that seems like a good idea.

 

yep and cheaper too!! i bought two 12"x12" pieces of aluminum and they were only $15!!!

 

While I am not a huge fan of CF, it is light and its heat resistance is phenomenal. Stainless is kind of an odd choice. Bad for heat transfer, you would be melting the bumper cover underneath it without knowing.

Aluminum is a good idea, but I don't think Shine works with metal fab.

Being that I'm in school right now to become a fabricator, stainless is a better idea than Aluminum. Aluminum is very good at dissipating heat (putting it elsewhere), whereas Stainless Steel is heat RESISTANT (it takes longer to heat up stainless steel). Thus why if you have a stainless exhaust and you start it up and take a drive around the block, when you get home you can hug the exhaust pipe if you want. Now couple that exhaust with a SS heat shield, your bumper MAY eventually bake, but it won't melt like the aluminum that is sending the heat to it will.

Just an FYI for those considering a DIY.

I prefer Carbon Fiber though, truly heat retardant.

lets do stainless steel then it would be more cost effective and look better as well, imho, i think cf would look a bit ricey...
