If we don't get together Saturday, maybe we can get together Sunday after Zoom Zoom?

Sounds good Holly! Maybe we could do early dinner on Sunday?? As of now, Leo, Drew, and Chris from Bham will be coming to Zoom Zoom. Do you have a place in mind?? I think we all gave up on the sushi buffet.

Tomorrow night, I'm going to go try out the new Korean Buffet (6PM). Anyone who wants to join, let me know.

I'm going to let some of you to decide about Sunday. hehe.

hmmm.. so anywhere from Atlanta Motor Speedway (where Zoom Zoom Live is) to I-20W in downtown ATL for a restaurant?

I know there are plenty of restaurants on 19/41 down by the Speedway.

BTW, I signed up for Zoom Zoom on Sunday at noon.

Anyone have any suggestions for din din?

Holly

I'm bringing a group of 5... yes, it ended up as 5 (2 white guys, including me, 2 japanese guys, 1 Japanese girl).

It turns out they'll take foreign driver's licenses.

...could someone bring a timing light? I messed with my timing and I don't have my timing light to set it again correctly.

I'll probably need to restab the CAS just to be sure.

Well, that was the most fun I've had in a very long time...

I saw seipherzero's FC (kind of hard to miss ) and some FD on display under a tent, but otherwise I wasn't really able to identify any 7 owners.

My blue FC was parked right near the entrance tent though (and there wouldn't have been time to work on my car anyway... so no one needs to worry about my last post).

All the cars accelerated a lot more slowly than I expected. They didn't seem all that faster than my FC, at least through first gear (and you run out of space in second).

...I was pretty terrible... at least my first two drives were (in the RX-8). They wouldn't go into second either time. WTF. They just ground and ground until I let off and tried again.

The Miata was a lot more fun, and easier to drive.

I got a 29.014 or something on my second (and final) Mazdaspeed 6 challenge run... First one was 29.51-ish, so I just barely missed being within one second of the target time of 28.50. I probably would have had 28 seconds or so, except I fishtailed a bit mid-course.

After my second run, I got a verbal warning about going to fast (since I killed some cones)

With my last run (like, number 8 or so...), I had 3 of my friends in RX-8. I floored it a bit, but not quite as much as before, and they finally said I was "good" instead of "scary/crazy." And by "a bit" I mean "a crapload," the only difference was that I let off in parts that would have been a bit bumpy at full throttle.

In one of my more spirited MX-5 runs, I accidentally powerslided through one of the later corners (yeah, "accidentally") and other than taking out a few cones, that was fun.

Also, right near the end, someone spun the crap out of an RX-8, making a HUUUUGE smoke cloud, and got kicked out... I honestly don't see how.

I hope it wasn't any of you guys :p

I'm sure when they upload the pictures, mine is going to be horribly embarassing (I think I had my mouth open, looking WAAY too serious as I floored it out of that corner).

lol, sounds like you had fun Valkyrie! I did too. The FD under the tent was herblenny's. I saw your FC too. I saw Holly's FD and another black FD near the parking entrance.

But damn, I've never smelled so much burned clutch before(MS6)! Some people should learn to drive stick before they try out a turbocharged AWD car ;X.

I'm glad they didn't have that whack-*** ball-in bowl thing like last year.

...and we got the same t-shirts as last year too ;[.

none the less, another top-notch Zoom zoom live event!

Glad you guys had fun, I did most of the course set-up on the Speed 6 Challenge because Stu was running the GTO up at the Petit when we were setting up. Hope it was fast enough, I like to let them run.
I'll bet the shifting problems in the RX8 were in the silver one right? We could here that car almost everytime it went out. Not your fault, syncros got destroyed early. We can't send cars to the dealers for repair if they even move under their own power. They do a quick test drive on the street and claim, "Its OK" and send it back to us. We have a couple Speed 6's that we got back that way this city and they will finally get new clutches now.

I hope you filled out your survey with good feedback, and also understand we have to crack down on people sometimes harder than we would like to because while you may be able to pull out of a slide or drift the whole course the next guy probably can't, and you might have given him some ideas.....

I saw some of the staff members driving the 3's after the event was over, and I couldn't believe how fast those things move...

Almost makes me wish I had bothered to do anything besides the sports course and the MS6 course...

Sports and Speed6 are the only courses the public can let the cars run. The other two are about some kind of precision, either matching a time that usually gets set with a rental minivan full of guys or hitting targets by driving over them with the exact center of a CX7.
You would have had your corner clipped if you tried any other kind of "fun" on those courses.
We have fun on Fri nights or Sat mornings before the public comes. I had a 26.5 on the Speed course Sat morning, I try to keep within a second of Stu as a goal each week. He had a 25.6! A friend of mine that wasn't there, Bernardo Martinez, usually battles for FTD with Stu, he had taken the week off.

I had went saturday and at about 12 I think is when the silver 8 started grinding second. I thought alot of people just sucked at manual but me and a friend drove that car and it felt pretty tore up compared to the other 8's. The guy talking at the ms6 course said that the clutches had been replaced before they did the texas event and their clutches got trashed by noon!

I guess that explains why the MS6 clutches felt like on-off switches? Although I guess a compound bow would be a better comparison. It was like "soft STIFFFF soft."

Seemed to me like putting it into 1st during the next to last section wouldn't have been a bad idea, since it was kind of sluggish in second through one part...

Definitely FUN! Except I was tired at hell (only 3 hours of sleep).

Yeh, that was my car under the tent.

Am I the only person who think's the RX-8's brakes are way too sensitive?

I think brake pressure should be much more linear than that... seems to me that modulating them would require way too much sensitivity for a foot. Strong brakes are good and all, but not if they act like on-off switches.

I did! I was in the MS6 line and caught a glimpse of something that I thought was an 8 at first but it was not close (in the video). I was thinking that maybe its a scrapped concept or an easter egg for those that pay attention. I was curious as to what it was (Kabura?)..

The outline did look kind of like Kabura. Hope they make another rotary vehicle.. and make ton of power
