WTF is there to do in Gainsville?

So, I promised my sister that I would come and visit her in Gville. Ive been there twice and wanted to leave... 5 minutes after getting there. I need to figure out what the hell to do when Im there. My sister is the biggest nerd that pretty much studies every waking moment so she isnt any help.

Thanks for all the reassurance to my future boredom. Maybe I will have to talk her into going to Miami with me instead of me visiting her in the middle of nowhere. If anyone knows anything else to do other than eat, drink and play pool in the little town, home to UF let me know. OH, and I will be driving a Honda CR-V there so the track wont be an option.

It depends on what you're up for and what all you like to do. Cedar Key is only an hour away. There's Paynes Prairie State Reserve, and Micanopy all less than twenty minutes away. The Ichetuknee River and State Park is probably less than an hour away, it's a great river to just ride down a tube in. Plenty of springs and the water is 72 degrees F all year long. There's also some nice lonely roads in and around Alachua County.

MMM... all of that doesn’t sound very much like me. I am a city girl... BUT the river does sound interesting other than the whole bug issue. I am highly allergic to a lot of insect bites so I don’t think it would be wise for me to do any of the mentioned above. Okay, so I figure I will be stealing my sister's bf's motorcycle and going nuts around town in that. God, this is going to suck. I’m going to try to talk her into coming down to Miami. At least that way I can go to the beach and have some sort of civilization.

Her boyfriend might get pissed off if she goes without him....
Plus for all the billboards they have hyping that place I was dissappointed when I went in there. Food sucked and the girls weren't all that great.

You might want to check gainsvillenights.com see if there is something there of interest.

Or you can come down here, and i will make sure that i keep you entertained. There is a lot to do here, in Asheville, NC- for instance get drunk and then think whatelse there is to do here in this damn town.

if youre coming to gville to visit your sister, then why not... visit you sister? in other words, why do you want external stimuli?

but anyway, if you like music, just walk around downtown. doesn't matter which night: one wednesday at 10:30 PM I saw a flyer for "That One Guy - World Tour: Songs in the Key of Beotch"... the flyer was for that night, so I walked a couple blocks and damn... never seen a show like that before, or since - except when I saw him again in Tampa
