Why should I move to Florida.......
Depends on the industry and if it's growing.
FL it going to have some major challenges with the drop in property taxes due to the sub-prime mess, and if you need hurricane insurance, it's going to cost you.
Bargains are to be found if you're willing to rent. I wouldn't purchase a home for another 9-12 months.
California is going to be worse.
I've been in JAX, FL, for 4-years, I'd try Colorado . . .

I will have to initially rent, but I would buy within 6 to 12 months. Hurricane insurance is one thing that I would definitely worry about. I think that I could get coverage though since I am through a military insurance. California is horrible all the way around, smog, taxes, people.......
Since you're going to rent, really negotiate! You'll be amazed at what you can get depending on the area.
Unfortunately, most "flippers"/investors can't get anything close to their monthly payment. As such, you want to rent from someone who either owns the home, or who hasn't recently (last 3-4 years) refinanced with a sub-prime or other adjustable-rate mortgage.
Can you imagine waking up one morning, with the local police at your door, telling you to pack your things and move out because your landlord defaulted and now the dwelling you're renting is in foreclosure ?
In fact, I would do the following:
1) state you'd like an independent financial check on the home/condo/etc., showing that there are not late or missing payments for the last 6-months, and that the dwelling is not in or pending default or foreclosure;
2) state in writing that for whatever term (monthly, 9-months, 1-year, etc.) you sign, should the dwelling result in an eviction due to landlords/owners missed payments, default, or foreclosure, the landlord/owner refunds one-month's rent plus deposit within 48-hrs., and a $1,000 fee for re-location/disruption.
Explain to them that you cannot afford to be evicted due to these circumstances, and as a rentor you need the same reciprocity afforded to them.
Good luck!

PS: hold out renting until it make financial sense to own. . .
If you have USAA, and you're moving to FL as a primary residence, yes, you will get property insurance.

I think #2 above might be very difficult considering if they are getting foreclosed upon, it usually siginifies that the owners are dead broke. So, I doubt that clause could even be enforced. When I was in high school, I had a something stolen from me and the kid was arrested and sentenced to pay me the $400 value. That was 12 years ago and I am still waiting for that payment.
do not move to florida it is the worst state in all of the usa it is absolutely horrible they are sooooo crooked here its not funny and everyone is stuck up snobby and just plain pieces of ****
pretty much people will be the same everywhere but here people are fun and theres much to do. plus poeple shouldnt be a worry if your a open minded person, living here and work is great if you really look around, like me i found a 10+ an hour job while i goto school
