OK? Glad you're not coming.. J/K!

I've already talk to the guys from Carolina and they are bringing 20 cars and arriving on Saturday afternoon.

I don't know about the miata guys.. But at least Mazdas are dominating the Gap!!

I know! And you took some great pics at the 2005 event!

I think this event will be fun none the less.. maybe little less drive on the dragon but it'll be good to see everyone and meet new people.

The guys from Carolina's are planning to meet up with us and check out our cars. I'm sure some of the Miata guys might come to see us also!

See you this weekend!

miatas are the 2nd biggest group on the gap. Minis being #1. You are looking at about 200 cars or so... which means you will have about 25-30 on the gap at once... which is pretty crowded but only during the day as night falls or early morning its obvioulsy less busy.

I'm also a miata owner and I sometimes go on the Miata forum...

After doing some search, this is a pretty small event.. their big event is in July (some 190days from now).

On their main Miata forum, their is no info about this "Spring" event...
http://forum.miata.net/vb/calendar.p...th=4&year=2007

I think we'll be the majority for these 3days on the gap..

I might goto July event with the Miata guys... so I could check out what they do.

I just posted that we are having a BIG ROTARY event on the Roaster forum and invited them to come check out our event.. During the carshow/lunch.

http://roadster-chat.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1614

Looks like they might have 20-40 cars.

By the way, those interested in DGRR 2007... the T-shirt sales End March 4th.
More info on the DGRR sub forum... I think I have a link on my sign.

The main draw for me about this even is meeting more new people, seeing some people I only see this one time a year, and tons of rotaries!
The group driving should still be pretty good since we spread out enough to enjoy the road in a safe manner.
I encourage anyone who can make it to come out and put a face with some of these screennames!

I agree with GOLFER FREDDIE i know that many people will wanna raise hell on the gap but it really is just a traveling car show for Mazda enthusiest. I mean there will be MINIS porches, etc. but what a great oppurtunity to meat alot of car nuts!

LOL! Why dont you definte "meet" for me..

Yes, its a "Meet" and a drive. I think you're thinking of ALL DRIVE, no meet/gathering/parking lot full of cars/eat lunch/dinner/ socialize/ hangout.... If you just want to drive, then DGRR isnt the event for you. Why you might ask? because the event takes place on a PUBLIC road. If you want to drive, then goto a track and don't danger yourself and the others and PUSH your car to its limit!

We'll Drive the Dragon! And some will drive thru the Gap in manners in which they are comfortable with.. being spirited drive or calmly thru it.. But either case, its not a Race track nor place for us to go NUTS! Hence, there are rules and regulations set by State/City governments and consequences for those who get got... and some incidents, consequences could be your life.

i know that, but the majority of the time is spent just hanging out, which can be done anywhere. I totally understand the public road/track thing. But in reality, how many people are going to do 25mph on the gap? and how many people are going to try and go fast and cant even stay in the lane. That is one thing I hate about large meets, alot of kids show up and go gung-ho on the first run and have never driven a road such as the gap before. That is what scares me. Bad drivers.

I totally understand you Zach! Don't think I'm in complete disagreement with ya.

I remember having this conversation with you couple of years ago (2005 event). The problem is that I need to balance everything so that everyone will be happy to a degree. But at the sametime, I can't let everyone do what ever the F*ck they want to do... because that only causes Chaos!

I think its reasonable for me to have 3-5 hours of gathering and such and have 5-6 hours of drive time (this includes 3-4 hours on the gap and 2-3 hours on the skyway). If people wants to run the Dragon earlier in the morning (less traffic) or day before (not on a weekend) on their own, they could choose to do so.

Regarding at the event, thats why I tried to seperate everyone into a group (5-6 cars). Each group will have a leader who will lead the group, set the speed, and get feed back from everyone in the group. The leaders need to be responsible and understand what they need to do on the Dragon. Hope that will reduce accidents and so call crossing over. Also this way person behind them could see the person front of them and let them know they are crossing over... Don't get me wrong.. I thought about all these possible problems we could have.. and try to come up with solutions to fix them.. and this is the easiest way to control younger crowds and those wanting to go crazy! They could do that on their own time.. But not during the actual event!

Hope my explaination help you why I set this event the way I did.. I'm trying to please everyone to certain degree.. including those vendors who gave me money to organize this event...

yeah, the 2005 event was pretty successful. no one got hurt. and if you would like me to, i could be a group leader for the event. I was a co-leader along with Jeremy last year, well i made myself the co-leader, haha. Just let me know, as I think I will attend. Just to get up to the mtns again
