When I shift from 4th to 5th...

I blow a fuse for my gauges/ac blower. Oil temp, tach, boost, and water temp all die. Why the hell is this happening?

do you have a standalone or piggy back

my TII had 1 microscopic bad solder connection on 1 wire between the safcii and ecu, and it would blip the entire computer when running and or not start up at times, unless you tapped/wiggled that 1 specific wire. Also check all grounds and cracked broken wires. something sounds crossed like a hot or a ground or a short to be blowing fuses. lmk

Have you taken the shifter cover and boot off to see if there are any wires that may have been run under it? Not factory wires, but some that someone else put there for something like A stereo, neons, etc? Just a thought. Maybe the shifter rubbed a hole in the wire and when you shift in grounds out. Prolly not the case but, then again I dont know. Good luck!

i was told by a guy here in miami @ Mazda Pros thats those switches could go bad and ruined alot of stuff. Why dont u try disconnecting the switch and seeing what happens. That was he told me to do when i had some starting issues. he said you wont need the switch.

If you're talking about the 5th gear switch you actually do need that. The only purpose it serves 5th gear is to let the CPU know to override the shift-up indicator, however since it's a dual function switch, your reverse lights won't work either.
