What to do this summer??

OK... so I have decided that I am sick of the Raleigh area... and I want to go somewhere for a few days at one point or another this summer.

I'd really like to meet up with fellow RX-7 people, but I don't know that many Rotary people outside of my area. I figured I'd start makin friends on here, since we all have a common interest... but the only thing that bugs me, is the fact that I am a girl, so I dunno who I can always trust. Especially since most of y'all are guys, so it's hard to know who can like me because I like cars, not because I am a female.

If you're planning on being as bored as I am this summer, then feel free to PM me. I'd love to go to the coast, Charleston, Florida, SOMEWHERE other than here! I'm working as much as possible this summer, so I can finally have some money to put into my FC... but I'd like to take some time off to escape and go on a vacation.

Any suggestions??

There's a BBQ in Jacksonville on May 28th if you're really feeling up for a drive. But don't the Raleigh people get together pretty regularly?

Yeah, but we only meet every other Saturday, and like I said... I'd love to get out of Raleigh.

Yeah, I caught that part as soon as I read it again, but didn't feel like editing my post.

Castaway Island Preserve in Jacksonville, FL

2885 San Pablo Road South
Jacksonville, FL 32224

http://www.coj.net/Departments/Parks...d+Preserve.htm

Time - around noon

Food and beverage are taken care of.

There will be lots of people from Jacksonville and the surrounding areas (Gainesville, Daytona Beach, Tallahassee, Savannah) and I and possibly a couple more will be driving from Tampa. I think some of the Pensacola guys will even be there, so it should be a big crowd.

Where are some good places down there to stay? I'll probably bring a friend, because I don't want to drive that long of a trip alone... but which hotels in the area are more recommended than others? Remember... I'm on a budget, here...

I DO happen to drive an RX-7... which keeps me on a tight budget.

Well, obviously the cheapest hotel to rough it at would be Motel 6. Other than that, try some of the cheaper chains - Red Roof, La Quinta, etc. You'd have to ask some of the Jacksonville guys for what's close to the park. Your best bet would be to ask in that thread. It's stickied towards the top of this section.
