What did you to or with your RX-7 Today?
^^ don't get sensitive about it, i understand the other members, i am against swapping the rotary for a piston, but if youre dead set on doing it, a 2jz is a bad *** engine, i am myself dropping one on a 71 240z.
Just a bit of knowledge for you...... Reliabilty on ANY motor is ALL dependant on who builds it and who tunes it..... It has NOTHING to do with the type of motor....
There....you just learned something NEW for today....

ok ok no reason to be rude here, i will post pics of my project up very soon. i have an 87 tII i have 2 blown s4 engines and just got ready to pull 1 out and swap with an s5. i threw around the idea of a 2jz for the fact the bottom end will hold up to like 800HP for 50 - 100000 miles in alot of cases. And, that alot of race events wont let a rotary compete with piston engines. AND the fact that a 13b with say 5 - 600 hp is only a low 14 - 18000 mile engine... especially in the case of competative racing! i love the rotary dont get me wrong, its small easy to work on and capable of big numbers. i love it. but the 2jz is no joke man!and thus i explain myself
i also threw around the idea of a 1jz, 302, ls1, rb25, f20, and even a ka24.... why? because i have the time and i just simply can! but i landed on a 13b s5 or a 20b. and chose the not as costly, 13b s5.

A rotary engine will last more then 18,000 miles, if it's build well & no cutting corners. Most who claim other wise really don't know the engine very well & blame it on the engine but the truth is you Failed. In the end we have to be responsible for what we know and don't know and learn from it point blank. Every engine has it's soft points & the 1jz & 2jz are known for their bearing issues, because of their torque they mushroom bearings at high RPM. My point is swapping out one issue for another is not fixing the problem nor are you learning what went wrong for the engine to fail, just my .02 either way good luck just out of respect for us don't post pics of your piston swap thank you Chris.
