Well, I tried to get in touch with Ernst this weekend, but couldn't. I'm gonna get that shell from him if its the last thing I do! Oh! I was able to get my profit sharing bonus at work, so I've finally gotten some serious fundage together. maybe I'll actually be able to afford some more stuff for it now!

Well, today we finally made some SUBSTANTIAL progress! I'll be the first to tell you that it sure feels good for a change.
The first thing we did this morning was make the lousiest attempt ever at trying to get a tow dolly. I should have called to reserve one earlier this week, but it completely skipped my mind. Anyway, we finally found one and picked up the GSL-SE parts car that I need for the LSD, disc brakes, correct bolt pattern for my wheels, and hopefully some headlight motors that ACTUALLY work! As you can see in the pix, it was in really bad shape, hence it's "parts car" status. lol It felt kinda weird to get parts and actually use them the SAME DAY - not store them for months on end. lol

Here we are putting in some of the polyurethane suspension bushings. Minda (rotarycrazy) and Masin (dregg100) decided that the grease we smeered on the bushings prior to installation was consistent in look, color, texture, and feel to that of "whale sperm". I'm still trying to figure out exactly how they became experts in whale sperm, but it sounds like an interesting story that we didn't exactly have time for . . .
Thats me (Adam aka. "Skylance") on the left , Masin (dregg100) in the middle, and Minda (rotarycrazy) on the right.

We got the new rear end ready to go!!!! Cleaned, painted and beautiful!

We had some trouble with the mosquitos trying to carry us away to their vampire lairs, so we got one of those repellent candles out. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown to us, the wicks would not stay lit. So, we ummmm, "fixed" it! woot!! Eh, whatever works, right?

Well, we got that problem taken care of and finished putting in the rear axle.

Here's a sneek peek at what the car will look like once I get the wide body and wheels on it! I can't wait!

Well, everybody, take it easy. Hopefully, we'll get a lot more done over the next few days!
Until next time,
- Adam

Another weekend with a substantial amount of progress! Woooohoooo!!!!!
Had a little trouble, but we finally got the front suspension back together!

Then we put the GSL-SE drive shaft in and connected it to the GSL-SE rear axle.

It's been a long time coming, but after 3 months, the beast is FINALLY back on it's own feet (figuratively speaking)!!!!! Finally, it is off of the Jack Stands! Oh man, I can't wait! Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!

I feel like such a proud papa now! Look! My family! It's me, Masin, Minda, and THE BEAST!

Got a lot accomplished over the long weekend!!!
Sunday:
Got the turbo, intake manifold and carb put on!

Monday:
Made like 150,000 trips to Lowe's and Home Depot. But we still managed to mount the intercooler.

We also mounted one of the rear fenders! That yellow stuff you see is "Great Stuff" expanding foam insulation. It is going between the stock fender and the wide body fender. It should help give some support to the fiberglass.

Much thanks again to my "big brothers" for all the help!

It will be several weekends at best.
I still have a lot of bondo work to do. . .
Good deal on the brakes! Once you have your car running, you have no excuse to not come down to SC and help us!

Adam,
Long time, no talk, heh. I got out of the whole RX-7, and well, whole car scene, however, I figured Id pop in and check out to see how your progress with the turbo kit, and car overall is going.
Looks good! That intercooler is huge! I never test fitted it to an FB, it was originally intended for my TII project that never took off. OH, if you haven't already done it, Id highly reccomend getting an EFI in line fuel pump, I believe Zac said to use a Walbro unit. Also, 3/8" fuel feed, AND return line is necessary. Lastly, be sure to get Mallorys Rising rate FPR to keep tabs on that fuel pressure. Those few things are going to be majorly necessary to get the most out of your setup. Also, you might want to consider wrapping the manifold, and also the downpipe, I know thats how Zac rocked it.
I should be swinging down to NC sometime in July, so by then you should have this thing rocking hard. I'll have to give you a heads up so you can give me that ride you promised me.
Later,
Chris~

Hey Chris! Long time dude!
Sorry you aren't able to be in the car scene, maybe after you ride in the car you'll re-evaluate your priorities!
lol
Yeah, the intercooler is huge! It is cool how it fits right in there, almost like it was meant to be! I got a EFI fuel pump off of the GSL-SE parts car I bought. We'll keep an eye on it and see how that works when we start it up. Hopefully, that won't be too long from now!
Zac said that the Mallory FPR failed for him and a couple of people he knew, so I went with one from aeromotive. I need to look into a return line setup, I haven't even thought of that yet!
I've already wrapped the downpipe already, but I still need to work on the manifold.
Definitely give me a call and let me know when you plan on being down this way! I think my number has changed since I last spoke to you, I'll send you a pm in a few. I've gotta post up some pix of the progress we made yesterday!
ps - speaking of zac, has anybody heard from him lately??? I haven't seen him on the boards in, well . . . I can't remember how long its been!
