thinking about selling it again ... too broke

Car has been running great, however i really need to get out of my credit card debt and i need to sell the rx7 to do that ...

would prefer a local buyer, but im not too worried where it goes ....

all my mboro peeps i MIGHT consider letting you guys part it out if you want ... cause im more worried about getting a decent amount of money QUICKLY as opposed to me taking my time to part it out

not that it needs to be parted out .. with a little cosmetic upkeep the car would be great .. its modified and pretty damned quick ...

at any rate what do you guys think?

i HAVE to sell it, but im not sure which avenue to take ...

paul and david im sure both of you guys would be interested in a full turbo swap (david for a 1st gen) and paul for your 2nd gen ..

While at the same time getting out of credit card debt....and buying a new car. So really you just want the Mazdaspeed 3, and I don't blame you for that- it's going to be a nice car, since selling 2 cars and paying off your credit card debt but adding a $400 dollar car payment isn't the usual path to being debt free. What is the other car your wanting to sell and how much for it?

only other car i have is a sentra se-r 94

**** load of miles ... body sucks .. engine runs like a champ ... 230+K miles
couldnt get more than 600 for it ... im just going to keep it i think ...

im just sick of not have a nice car with creature comforts and all that jazz ... and im sick of my credit card

i'll have another 7 someday ... later on when i am more stable and have more money to devote to it

i'd LOVE to keep the 7, but its the only way i can kill this credit card debt.

I guess what I'm wondering is if you sell the 7 for 4k, will that be enough to pay off the cards? If so, are you going to drive the Sentra fora while to get some money saved up to pay down on the 3 as well as the trade in of the Sentra?

Having been in credit card debt when I was modding the FD around Y2K, I just don't want to see someone else dig a debt grave as well.

I agree with Tim. Don't buy the MS3 until you are in comfortable fiancial situation. If you could avoid getting in debt I would avoid it (consider car loan to be another form of debt). Also its the best feeling ever knowing you don't owe anything thing to anyone and have money in your savings! I drove around my 88 celica until I was debt free.

very good advice here. most of you know i was trying to do SOMETHING about my FD a little while back. nothing worked out. . . EVER. ive come to grips that this car will end up being my casket. . . thats another story, though.

dustin, i understand selling your car. . . i really do. . . you KNOW i do. i even FURTHER understand the want/desire to get out of debt. its strange how much you dont pay attention until its unavoidable. im about to move (along with april and aiden) into my dads house. in 6 months, ill have no more than $300 going out to debt payments. im paying off ALL of my debt and learning from it. were keeping aprils debt intact so she can build some credit off of it. . . thats where the $300 will be. just her honda and a signature loan. i want to buy a house, and i dont want to cringe everytime i open the mailbox. . . because (as dj mentioned) a house is ENOUGH to deal with.

im not saying you should move in with your parents or anything like that. . . just make DAMN sure you have your finances in a very straight line and are able to commit to that $400 car payment (plus nasty insurance) before you get that car. creature comforts are nice, but when you are BARELY affording them, it makes everything around you SUCK. take my VW for instance. . . its a NICE car, but i barely take care of it anymore. hell, all of my cars suffer. remember the R/T? it was CLEAN. . . ALWAYS!!! i could afford it, and because of that, i didnt suffer the trauma of the mental debtors prison.

just remember that APR's will change, cars will change, and finances will change. . . but all the while this statement always stands true no matter WHAT you do: you will leap into debt, and crawl out with a fat bastard attached to your back!

LOL

thanks for the advice guys, and yes paul im heeding your warnings above all...

the way i see it is like this ...
(i just recently got a 15% raise)
i can get out from the credit card debt once and for all ... i owe about 3800 on the card ...
if i can sell the rx7 for 4-5k then i would have the card gone and a little bit of money toawrds my 6k loan ...
im not going to go out and buy the MS3 yet, but its sitting heavy on me ...

i've done some math and after rent+bills and 600 a month for carpayment + insurance (over esitmate hopefully) i'd still have about 1000 a month to live on ... not including cell phone bill ...

the other part of me is screaming to sell the 7 and sit with the sentra until early next year ..
it scares me only having one car though ... the sentra runs great but that could change at any time ...
the passenger door doesnt shut so im stuck DD'ing the 7 which i dont like doing ... it handles it fine, but gas is crazy ....

im not set in stone on anything , and im NOT going to sell myself short on the 7 because its worth every penny of 4k if not closer to 5k .. so im not going to jump at someone elses beck and call so to say ...

im just sick of the credit card and selling the 7 is an easy way out ....

im going to go up to nelson mazda and find out some specifics as far as payments and all that jazz today ... after i go by the bank and see what kinda loan i COULD get ....

decisions decisions ....

just dont let them run a credit check!!! instead of going through them, go to your bank. go to your insurance company and see what the cost will be. id say $600 is a decent rough estimate, however, id bet on the higher side of it. . . possibly more. insurance is gonna be the killer. i think waiting a while would be the way to go. find one used or just shop around trying to find the best deal you can.

this is something to pay attention to. $1000 to live on. groceries? maintenance? savings for times of need (cause you dont wanna go through the credit card thing again)? entertainment? $1000/month for all those can dwindle away VERY quickly.

im not saying, "dont do it" and i know i sound like pops trying to teach a lesson, but i just dont want you to regret anything. i DO however feel youre on the right track. . . debt is the freaking DEVIL!!! unfortunately, you have to have it if youre gonna do anything with credit. . . such as buying a house. getting a car is easy, but it can RUIN any other plans.

if i could sell my car without a conscience, i would. . . but i got screwed into mine and dont wish that on anyone else, so i figure its just here to stay. though, my personal situation enables me to say that with ease. my bonus will be here at the end of the month, and the car will be paid off. . . finally. . . F-I-N-A-L-L-Y!!! but even then, i have to buckle down. . . im going to take a major hit by [cringe] moving in with my dad [/cringe] (but luckily my mom doesnt live there anymore and it wont be TOO bad. . . dustin knows all about that ).

anyways, heres the situation. . . i COULD buy a house right now. the market is actually not bad for it right now, but id still have some residual debt that will eat away at me while wanting to DO things to the house. . . cause you know. . . i cant just have a "ho-hum" garage. BUT, if i wait the market could change for the worse. 6 months from now, i could be sucking and be forced to rent. . . AGAIN. . . which is something i really dont care to do ever again. heres the deal, im WILLING to make that sacrifice. if the market does get worse for the buyer after 6 months, i still have more of an option than i do now. ill have remaining assets then that i dont have now. . . and thats what really matters. flexibility to do what you want/can/need with what you have at the moment.

like i said, in my example, i could move into a house right now and eat ramen noodles for another year or so. . . or i could give up 6 months of my social freedom and eat a freaking steak whenever i damn well please afterward.

dustin, do you owe anything on the rx7? last i remember you dont. thats on your advantage. if youre going to be waiting for a while anyways (recommended), then why not just stack up your money against the credit card. youd be amazed at how soon you could pay it off. put it on paper. budget your EXPENSES and STICK TO IT. youre single. . . you can live off of crap for a few months. in that time, you can keep your eye on the market. . . once you reach the level you are comfortable with (who knows more money on your paycheck by that time even), you can make a more educated, experienced, and just plain BETTER choice as to what to do with your money.

bottom line. . . get this stuff out of the way while youre single. im not talking about building your toys and all the such. . . im talking about finances and understanding of your monetary limits. its MUCH harder to get it all out of the way at that point. . . because you cant POSSIBLY ask your family to starve and hate life because of your mistakes in the past. its hard to think about, but thats the truth of it. if your money is where it needs to be, then theres no reason not to have the toy you might want. . . or two while still maintaining a household in a decent condition.

oh, and aiden says hi. . . in his crazy monster voice. . . except he doesnt know how to say hi. . . we figure the monster noises are signs of joy. . . and that he is NOT the spawn of satan!!!

LOL - make a face for me ..

well i talked to one of the sales managers at nelson and the MS3 wont even be on thier floor till december ...
i got a rough estimate for insurance already and it was around 150 or so a month full coverage ...although that was the mazda 6 and not the MS3 ....

if i get a chance to sell the 7 for the right price im probably going to do it ... i can always get another one in a few years ...
i really want that credit card gone ... in the meantime i am going to start throwing more money at it than usual ...

If this is true, then go ahead and sell the two cars and get your MS3. $1000 after all that to live on (guessing food, entertainment, saving, and such) is pretty good. But If I were you, I would go buy a house and drive your beater and save money.

yes, home ownership = way cooler than car ownership. . . and a good bit more lucrative.

dustin, it looks like the cards might go your way with the arrival timeline. . .

dustin, you only have to stay in a home for 2 years to keep the equity. . . THATS where home ownership pays off. . .
