swfl weekly drift events
so me and my friend josh hold drift events weekly in naples florida, on an abadoned go kart track, unfortunately i'm the only rotary out there. we go every saturday and get there around 10am and drift til we run out of tires. just letting everyone in the swfl area know that is an open invite. the cars that come out there weekly is me in my fd, an s2000 (which for being a honda outslides most of the people there), a miata, 3 ae 86's and a mess of 240s. also sometime in the near future we will be holding an east coast vs west coast drifting event which should be pretty fun as long as we find people worth inviting. so anyone that slides around and wouldnt mind making a drive lemme know and i'll let you in on the whole deal. peace

the track is actually off exit 101. yea it is the hidden track. naples is about 1 1/2 hour drive from miami. but like i said its a full day of free drifting, it cant get much better than that. here are some pics of me and my friend at the track a few weeks ago.
and heres a video from a few weeks ago, by the way its not wet out there anymore so excuse the excessive water in the video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZRHbfXgKwo
let me know what you guys think.

I think its a great way to practice without getting in trouble with the law (assuming this is all legal?) It also looks pretty wide open so you don't have to worry about trashing your car (although there looks like trees close to the track) I might be down soon.

unfortunately it isn't legal. the place is an abandoned track, but out of the past 3 months we've only had a cop come once, and he just watched. they really dont mind. no one can hear you, no one can see you so the cops dont give a ****.. theres nothing to hit out there, just grass, and maybe some bumps in the grass, theres a fence around the first turn but its such a low speed turn its almost impossible to hit, but on the plus side, since it is a go kart track, its no super wide, which makes the track extremely technical... people that go out there and drift for only a month end up better than people i've seen drift for a year.. its incredible practice, and after only 2 sessions there i noticed the improvement in myself as well. even my friend with an honda s2000 outslides tons of people out there and hes only been drifting for a month lol. but yea man its so worth checking out. and if cops do come and kick us out, theres tons of spots around the place.

okay unfortuantely we didnt go today, since somehow everyones car broke, but for future reference we go every saturday, and meet up at 10am, and drift til, well whenever. even though the track is abandoned me and my buddy josh still have some rules to keep it safe. only one car on the track at a time, we do tadems every now and then but only if both drivers are capable of doing that without hitting eachother, it takes a while to get used to the track so we'll see.
SO FROM NOW ON EVERY SATURDAY 10AM. just to let all you know.
my phone number is 239-357-5585. ask for ryan. i pick up all hours of the day so just call me guys. i dont know how many people are showing up next sat. due to the fact that dgtrials is going on at ocala but if there are people still willing to come, i'll go on with the event.
and since we'll be letting you guys slide the track i just ask a few small favors in return!
1.) everyone bring a broom if they can, the track gets real dirty sometimes and the more brooms mean the faster it gets cleaned.
2.) bring any tools or spare tires you need to fix your car. we do have a small pitstop area
3.) bring water/soda any drinks to share, everyone brings sodas to share so its just helping eachother out.
4.) bring money for lunch we normally stop at subway for lunch so make sure to bring some spare cash
5.) keep it safe and have fun.
thats all i ask guys.
im very excited to see so many rotarys excited about this event. i guess we will see how next saturday goes. peace
