Should we have a North Miami/Broward RX_ Club?

Should we have a North Miami/Broward RX_ Club?
The idea was brought up by a member of the Rx-7 boards and recently in a conversation I had. I've been given the opportunity to start/maintain a North Miami/Broward rotary club.
A couple of reasons for having this club was:
1) The most organized club currently in south Florida is DSR (Down South Rotary) which really caters to South Miami.
2) There isn't an organized presence for people whom live in the North Miami/Broward/Palm Beach areas.
3) I was presented with the opportunity to pick up a club that had already been established, including a web site and domain.
This wouldn't be an any way shape or form "splitting" people into one group or another, simply giving more people options. I attend DSR and other rotary events and would consider this just a way to cover a very large South Florida. At first I wasn't too keen on having a north club. I was more interested in moving the meets a little further north, but after some thought more meets in different places should = more fun. So what are your thoughts?

dont tell me its sofla rx club???? if it is dude that name is trashed noone cares to even hear that name and if someone hears it theyll just remember of all that bad times and money they got scammed out of... but i hope everything works out for ya only thing i would say is that we would have like 4 clubs all within just the lower half of florida?the west side has a club now you guys plus DSR and i know theres others forgot the name lol

It is something that we should consider. As for the name of SoFlRX Club, it is not the name that is tarnished BUt rather the leadership and togetherness it had at the begining. I personaly feel the name is more in TUNE with the community than anything else out there. SoFlRx Club would represent all of the counties and not just Dade. The club could be in unisen with other Rotary cubs and not looked at as a rivalry or against any other club. I personaly enjoyed the SoFlRx Club untill all the drama started other than that it was a nice gathering of Rotary people.

Its sad that the comments of one should tarnish the minds of others. I , for one think the name sofla rx club has unilateral relationship with rotary owners. I do remember that it had its share of drama but it always seemed to be instigated by one or two individuals. I live in the Gables but wouldnt mind heading up North to a meet with people who share less drama. It is apparent that there are worse drivers down south than up north so the attitudes are respective to those that instigate drama. You can count me in with this new club and that the meets be once a month instead of every week that seems a bit monotonous.
When all the clubs get together for one meet would be a nice thing to be a part of also. Maybe we can play softball against each other.

Wow, great to see some solid replies. I appreciate the feedback and the feedback I've received from the rx8club forum. I initially wasn't keen on naming names but yes it would be the intellectual rights to Soflarxclub that I would be receiving.
At first I didn't like the idea of making a "northern" club but it seems like there is a solid interest for one. There aren't any lines being drawn, there aren't any sides to choose, just more events to go to and more locations for people to choose from.
I'm apart of DSR, and plan to support the club. Many of you know me via proxy of my brother (Monza aka Jose) or from my relations with PNC Auto. I really enjoy hanging out with everyone, the second to last meet at Hooters was a blast. This would be something that's open to everyone and would have no ties to its previous incarnation. Your support is appreciated and hopefully we can make something good out of this.

Well alright how bout we meet at towers tomorrow bitches. We could be the north chapter and meet up between boca and fortlauderdale, two meetings a month with one being either at our home turf or DSR home turf or a neutral location somewhere in between. I really dont mind driving but am always paranoid about breaking down in miami.

Anyway, Im down for a Towers meet tonight. Im finnaly free to go so even if no one goes, ill be there around 7:30.

As for the club I say Go for it. Then you guys decide on the name Later. I think you should get it rolling. Nothing better than multiple clubs getting along with each other. I would like to see all the clubs in one big meet.
