naa, its just the abundance of ignorant V8 headed rednecks down here that really out number us and stuff. truely there arnt that many enthusiests that know we even have a club! that is why if you see one... CHASE THEIR ASSES DOWN! talk to them and get them interested and urge them to get on line and join!

really i think we sould atleas have bi-weekly "chapter meets". cause we allready have a state wide club, we should have a greenville/greer chapter, a easly/anderson chapter, so on and so forth. maybe a minimum group of 4 per chapter. the more we are seen in a pack the more recognition we will establish and the rx7 owners will come looking for us!

the key is to talk about your RX7 with just about everyone you meet or know. chances are they have one too or know someone who does that may be looking to get into an organization.

im going to try and get together a greer/greenville chapter toghether and probably meet at greer dragway every other thursday, maybe do some crusing, some mingleing, grabing a bite, and definitly making some passes on the track!

Meets are not the same thing as shows. I understand what he's saying. We don't have as many "events" as other regions, perhaps, but we are a lot more organized than most. We do have an upcoming BBQ in July, we have the Christmas party in Dec, and a lot of autocrosses (not put on by us).

We don't have car shows, or poker runs, or anything like that, because no one has stepped up to the plate to coordinate these things. It's not an easy task, especially if you don't get a good turnout. Just ask some of the folks in FL how their events are turning out.

I wish we, as a whole, had the type of dedication that the Porsche Club of America, Corvette clubs, classic Mopar clubs, etc., has, but those people generally have more time on their hands, and are passionate about their cars. Unfortunately, for most pre-FD owners, their rotary-powered vehicles are just a means of transportation (consider how many are NOT on the Forum, and some that are on the Forum), AND, not many have a lot of free time.

It can be done, of course. All it takes is commitment, from the person setting up the event, to the people participating.

Ren

The main problem is the people who would/wouldn't come to the events. Other than the hardcore dedicated members that bend over backwards to attend every event that they can. There are a bunch of "fair weather" members around SC that only show up when the mood strikes them.

Ren is right though, the BBQ in July and our annual X-mas party are scheduled so far. Plus I'm working on setting up a car show/cruise in MB with a tuning shop up there. It's not for sure yet, but it's in the works. It will be more than just a 7 show/cruise though. We'll have to invite more to get the turnout that the shops want to see since they will be helping us out. If anyone wants to help me out with organizing the show/cruise then PM me and we'll start working on it as a group. Laterz.

well i kinda have the resources for poker runs. my girlfriends' father owns Froggyz' Custom Cycles in Piedmont. we just opened up about a year ago. we also won second in most radical bike at the easy riders show in charlotte.

next time we do a poker run ill see if us rotor heads cant participate! witch i think will be ok anyway cause all profits go to a good cause...never our pockets!

oh and there is always plenty of beer, cool people, and some hot *** bikes!

so where is the BBQ held at? i know i will be able to make it. id also like to come to the X-mas party! ill bring the eggnog!

i know its off the subject, but id like to further plug in the cycle shop.

if ya know anybody that is into customs, send them my way! we are right of exit 39 in piedmont. going northbound on 85, take a right off the interstate and we are about 200 yards down on the left side of the road. and of course if your coming southbound, hang a left back over the interstate. we are next to the piedmont skate place.

we build award winning bikes for way less than the rest of the more known shops i.e. OCC (****!). our 2nd place bike is going for 35G's. thats cheep!

once we establish some buisness and start making money we are (i am) going to expand to import and domestic performance car shop. hopefully if we get enough support we might specialize in rotary tuning!

BTW. if anybody wants pics of bikes weve built, pm me and ill try and figure out how to send yall some! i wont post them in the forum cause it has nothing to do with 7's, but give me some feed back if yall can!

thanx,

-chris

Rotoboy, you're picking up on SC-style hijacking already! Zach must be so proud!

Rotoboy, you still have much to learn young Padiwan!!

He did start the thread Ren. It might be kind of hard for him to hijack his own thread. Hey, you stole my quote and you're using it under your forum name!! I'm so honored! I just noticed that. Go ahead Ren!!

I think stuff like that belongs more in a pm than in the open forums.

Agreed. That would be best asked in a PM. It's better to keep your personal business personal and not public.

Rotoboy, about thread hijacking. That was going between Ren and myself. NukeGenius and I are the kings of thread hijacking in the SE section.

So, would anyone be interested in helping me organize the big meet/cruise in Myrtle Beach or am I going to have to do it by myself from Portugal??

I NEVER thread hijacked, well maybe once or twice, but I apologized whenever I did. My comments are always relevant to the subject matter being discussed in the thread.

Zach you know who are willing to help, you just have to clue others in on things so that it can be planned out for the future. And by future I don't mean 2 to 3 days in advance. Stuff like that take weeks or even months. Check out the Outer Banks cruise set for July 17th.
BTW, way to regulate wise turbo RENesis. heehee

i tried to keep it on topic, i was just promoting the shop cause sooner or later ill be specializing in rotary motors. well, not really specializing, but repair work and stuff for the folks who dont have the time to do it them selves. i wont get into porting untill i have done a few of my own to use as guinnea pigs, to get the ports flowin just right!

all that may be a few years down the road but, hey, small beginnings. gotta start somewhere!

oh, and i am indeed sorry for interupting the thread with the other stuff. im serious bout the poker runs though! just gotta find something to raffle off and stuff that will be of value to rotary owners, be they turbo or N/A.

Zip ties, duct tape, and oil!!!! Those are a few things that are valuable to EVERY rotary owner. Me included!! We weren't being mean about it Chris, we were just giving you shyte. Don't take it personal. The entire SC crew is really close. We're like a really big disfunctional family. But it's really fun.

cool! yeah i was thinkin somewhere along the lines of maybe a box of mazda oil filters for 3rd, a free oil change with royal purple and a mazda filter and a free can of brake clean for 2nd. and for first place, a tune up with new fuel filter, iridium plugs, 8mm plug wires, and a royal purple oil change. everyone who participates will get a roll of duct tape and a bundle of zip ties!

we will have to figure out a price to enter the poker run to cover the cost of the prizes and to donate to a cause. hopefully we will have enough people to cover the cost. if there arnt enough though we might not be able to do it, i cant really afford it out of my pocket.

oh and i kinda knew yall were just funning with me, im just overly polite sometimes. so, eat me....jk lol.

Chris, now that's more like it. Around here you either have to be sarcastic or just get picked on constantly. Welcome to the family bro!!

As for the entry fee, $10 to $15 would be sufficient so long as you had a good turnout. Just gauge the entry level by how many people pre-register. And are you talking about having the poker run open to all imports or just rotaries?? I am afraid that if we limit it to rotaries only then we might not have a big enough turnout. But you never know. We could always have some sort of fund raising car wash before or after the poker run too. But that is something that you would have to organize because I don't know anyone up in your neck of the woods. Let me know what you think. Laterz.

Car Wash?! Half the guys here think that's what happens when it rains! J/K. We do, however need more people who are action and not just words. It seems to me that everyone complains about "not having enough events", but no one ever mans up and does something about it. Of course, there are a few exceptions. As a group, we are organized and tight knit, but as a club, well...you get the picture . It kind of makes me sad.

hehe, I was wondering if you were gonna catch that comment sweetie. You rock!!

Chris, I would love to help set these events up. But there is only so much that I can do from this island. Just let me know how I can help and I will where I can. Laterz.
