Who has caused the shut down of many oil refineries in this country and severly restricted the construction of nuclear plants and other forms of alternative energy production?

That is what I was alluding to in my post, when i said drilling in Alaska, and building new refiniries. It is time we stopped the *****-footing, and get down to business, regardless of the environmentalist.

I was trying to be humorous in saying, that if W could get those prices down, his approval rating would sky rocket; so much so that he would be elected to a third term.

TO, don't be naive. The price of bottled water does not affect every aspect of our economy. Water or CocaCola is not used to power, the trains, planes, trucks, work vehicles, etc, that drive our economy. The upsurge in gas prices is part of what is causing the rise in other prices. Do you think a company is going to say, "Oh, wow, our gasoline bill has doubled, lets just suck it up and lose that money." or do you think the more likely scenario is, that it is being passed on to the consumer? So, you are paying more at; the pump, the grocery store, the lumberyard, etc. It is doubly taxing when gas prices skyrocket.

Controlling prices by supply and demand only can only work when you can actually decrease demand. With our current model, the demand can only go up, while the supply can only go down. There is no ability to boycott, or whatever, it is necessary for everyday life.

Personally, I am neither a rebuplican or democrat. I don't agree with a lot of current policies, but I also don't go around hugging trees. Unfortunately, there is no candidate that represents the middle ground, or I am sure he would have won by a landslide this last time around. I wasnt trying to turn this into a rebuplican vs. democrat, and honestly I am sorry I brought it up. Politics is something that a lot of people have strong opinions on, and I would hate to see it put a strain on our group.

Dave, Josh's FD is like 400 hp capable, and your neon is what 250.
And it's wrong wheel drive. Don't even start that stock vs. stock crap, your car has 10 years worth of technological advantages over a 93 rx-7. Eitherway, it's still an family econobox with a turbo engine slapped in it, while the RX-7 was designed from the ground up as a pure sports car.

Alright, enough neon bashing for the day, I'm just messin' around man.

Anyway, as far as the gas prices/politics conversation, here is my input....

Screw those tree hugging hippy liberals. me--> <--hippies

Oh yeah, I hate that new car smell, it stinks.

i am not gonna bash david or the SRT4. dave is a cool guy, and those SRT4s can be mean as hell. honestly with my 7 running at about 10-11PSI, he was keeping up with me, and that was on stock injectors. oh, and just for the record my car should be almost 500HP capable when all is said and done(20PSI, & tuned). just had to throw that in to stroke my own ego.

A man with a passion, that is rare today. Why can't we be passionate or advocate for or against a position without concerns that we may offend someone?

Don't worry 'bout offending me, I am almost as disgusted with the republicans and their timidity as I am with the Dems and their thurst for power at the expense of the country.

I was trying to say that it is the lack of political will to do what is in this country's best interest over the last 25 years that has contributed to the problems we're having today. We have too many politicians in office and not enough partriots.

i agree 100%. i think we need more people in office with real world experience, not just trained & groomed politicians. anyhow, i digress, these are topics best left off forum. not for your sake or mine, but for others who might get offended.

Amen to that, Josh.

Ray, I didn't know, I'm jealous so I guess if Steve will sell me 2 sets of 4 piston calipers I'll try to keep up with you, But no nitrous or turbo for me. I'd kill myself in a turbo, remember I road the dragon with Jimmy in his Turbo, the power and response are awesome. As much as I love speed I'm afraid I'd do something stupid with all that response and power. I know I'd be buying new tires once a year.

Holy crap, I feel like I'm in debate class or something. Anyway I was I think maybe you guys as a group should start competing in auto crosses. I think I was talking about this with someone.......But, the way I see it is that 1 its fun, and 2 it keeps u from getting rusty in-between going to the track, plus its not nearly as expensive. I don't know I'm really just trying to change the subject. But I would still love to get into something like that.

Impulse, thanks for adding the no offense thing, lol. I was about to shoot back my rebutal, lol And Josh...500 hp?! That's all I can say, lol. Well that and "Uh....*drool*" I got bad news today...the RX-7 vert I was going to buy when I got back was sold Anyone know what I could get a good condition white Vert for? I need to start checking the fs forums now. I want a vert though! I know they're slow, but I like the look and the vert fact. If I can't find a vert in as good a condition as the one I was GOING to buy I might just drop the 50 trim turbo in my SRT-4 and drop 500hp+ to the wheels when I get back home Only one problem with that though...can we say fwd traction SUCKS!!! lol

Don't worry, we don't stray from the rotary talk too often, but sometimes its nice to stretch the brain. I think trying auto-X would be fun and give us something else besides going to the dragstrip and destroying our diffs and breaking our cars. We'll see who steps up for this test of driving skill, the winner is the one that eats the most cute little cones, right? I know Doug would love a contest like that.

If you hear of an AX in the area post it and mention it at the DI's.

Autocrossing is fun!!!!! There is one every year out at the RBC Center parking lot. I think Tar Heel puts it on. I forget the date but Sports and Compacts was the main sponsor for it one year. But with autocrossing, great tires are a must. You really need another set of wheels with Hoosiers or autocross tires. Count me in for the autocrosses. But I wont be running the FB, I have other tools in the bag.

Bert,

I wouldn't be too worried about breaking a diff unless you subject your car to the kind of abuse that I put mine through. You can only launch at 6000+ so many times with a 4 puck clutch... Oh well. That clutch is gone now, or so Steve informs me. I think my 7 will be back together in a week or so. Meanwhile, I'm picking up my new beater tomorrow: 1989 Toyota Supra nonturbo.

Well if the camry was in my price range i wouldnt mind having one of those too but that would kind of defeat the purpose of buying a small car that looks good and is easy on gas.
Bert don't worry I haven't completely stepped over to the darkside I WILL keep my 7 but just need an economy car for gas every day. In fact I am saving money up to do a 20b conversion on my FC... Damn I cant wait to get that. I could never sell my FC not even to buy an FD. After driving the FD and the FC, I love the look of the FD but the driving expirience cant come anywhere near that of drivng an FC on the edge.

tC's are nice. They aren't speed racers, but GREAT economy cars(stock of course) and they look a LOT better than those boxes they call xA's and xB's, lol. sorry, personal taste preferance. But I wouldn't mind a tC if I didn't want an RX-7 and wanted another car (AND if I could afford it, lol).

If anyone knows anyone who'd want to swap an older Miata for a nice FC, let me know. Otherwise, my FC may be for sale sometime soon. It's a damn shame such a beautiful car never gets driven.
My friend has a 97 Supercharged miata that hes looking to sell for $7500 just if your interested

I'm afraid it may be a little early to start looking for a vert TOO seriously cause I can't afford it till I get back middle of next year. If someone has one in great condition that would be willing to baby it and keep it running right without putting massive miles on it till I get back then I could do that...but that's a lot to ask of someone that doesn't know whether or not you're trustworthy. "Naw mean?" So I'd be interested, but it would prolly be gone by the time I had the $$$.

I'm out to sea all weekend...and next week...and the week after...lol, it sucks. But yeah, I'll definitely let you know closer to time. I'm trying to find a vert with low miles and few or no aftermarket parts so it's less likely to have been beaten on. I want it to be a stock engine, a few body mods and suspension after I get it so it isn't a racer, but a great course car to play with occasionally and a daily driver so I can mod out my SRT without worrying about being carless if she breaks(funny how modded high power cars tend to do that, huh? lol).

Eric,

I had the same problem a few years ago with my Saturn. Seems my car was 'hit' by lightening. At least that is what the repair guys said. I had to pull the fuses to get the lights to turn off, daily.

Something to with an immense electrical charge. Don't know if that is your problem but thought I would offer it as a possiblity.

Beth
