I have a n/a 91 Rx7 and it is slow. what can i do to make it faster, with the engine still in the car?

Read the stickies at the top of the 2nd Gen Tech section... Then go to www.rotaryresurrection.com and read all of the tech articles... Then go to www.fc3spro.com and read the entire site from front to back... You'll have alot of knowledge built up by then...

 

put your car on a diet, get some pipes, a big intake pipe. some big injectors and a ecu. or you can do a ccarburetor convert

what kind of car are you comparing it to if 160 hp in a 2600 lb car is slow

 

I don't think S5's weigh 2600lbs?

If it's your first car I'd think going easy for a little while would be best. Just getting used to it. Especially learning the handling. Maybe you could do something aboud finding about autox and testing your car there to learn it better

Just for the Title You chose.....**** YOU! but seriously...you can have some decent speed on a n/a...dont give up

 

S5 N/A's weigh in at about 2800lbs depending on trim level... Can't run a different ECU because there is no ECU upgrades available for the S5 N/A... DO NOT buy one of those stupid ebay "chips" for it, because you will only blow your engine... Get an SAFC, lean out the mixture a bit (preferably with a wideband), intake, exhaust, ported throttle body, remove the 5th and 6th port sleeves (or wire them open), and start losing weight... Anything else basically requires removal of the engine...

 

if its an automatic or a convertible or worse...both. just give up now and sell it and buy a different one

Without removing the engine, you really have only 2 real options to make power. First, buy the Racing Beat exhaust: header, and cat-back. It will cost a little bit, but it is worth it to buy better quality parts.
Second, put a wet N2O kit on. Nothing else will give you the bang for the buck. Do it right and get a GEN-X-2 kit with it also. At least when you change cars, you can reuse the kit.
Really, your only other affordable choice is to get a TII and build that.

 

ok. ok. even at 2800lbs 160 hp is still decently quick. especially for a car from 1991

 

I'm waiting for the obligatory "you can take them in the twisties" comment since we've deduced 160hp isn't much compared to most cars nowadays.
