So the engine is out.
Of course I forgot some things like the flywheel socket.
But we plan to have the engine torn down tomorrow, see what kind of coolant seal failure the engine has.

engine has been broken down. coolant seals where terminated with extreme prejudice , and tomorrow whole engine is getting hot tanked.

unfortunately the cause of the problem seems to be elctrolite damage to rotor housings and iron's.
so they all need to be replaced, if anyone has any spare s5 housings and irons
let me know.

damage is in form of deep pitting leading towards inner coolant seal. sorry for bad pics, bad camera

the pics are of least damaged ones,the other ones i threw away cause th damage reached the rotor side seal trace lines in the irons.this was the initial damage that caused coolant seal failure

Don't throw the bad ones away, they can be used for porting practice.

I think I see what your talking about in the 2nd a 3rd pic. Thats nasty.

hows the rebuild coming along? I have some old s5 n/a parts you can have.. one of the rotor chambers is trashed, iirc the rear, and the housings are a little messed up cause i let them sit in zep cleaner too long. but you can have them if you want. have you ordered seals yet? reusing any?

ive got new housing and all the irons and oil and coolant seals, new water pump and housing.
new thermostat and a **** tone of vacume and fuel tubing.
still need a radiator cause mine is thrashed
need motor mounts
and radiator hoses
clutch slave and corresponding line.

Engine is put back together.
I had fun. Thanks for letting/trusting me rebuild it for ya.
It was cool to have some other ppl there to talk about cars an rotaries.
Hope i didn't **** off the neighbors with my revving of my engine, kinda had the happy rotary bug up my ***. lol.

Hope you get all necessary parts together soon.
Then we put that engine back in an get it running. :Thumbs up:
Putting engine back in party soon, right?

I forgot to take pictures even though I had my camera with me.
So take some pictures of the as it sits now and be sure to get some of that clean engine bay.
