Repainting my RX-7!
Yeah, I need help getting my car painted. I'm thinking that this summer, after school is over, I want to get it painted. The problem is that right now I have no money. So yeah, that's a problem. BUT, I'm going to get a full-time job in the summer and I have a van for sale so that should bring in some funds for the summer. The van is a 1988 Dodge Caravan for $500, needs a tire and possibly a fuel pump (not starting, fuel not getting to the injectors)... in case you're interested. Anyways, back on topic. My car is just peeling pretty badly on the roof, hood, rear spoiler, mirrors, and bumpers. There's also a little bit of rust on the sunroof. So, I was just planning on repainting it the same color so I don't have to go through the trouble of chaning the color. I'm a cheap high-schooler so I can't really pay for a $2000+ paint job, but I don't want a cheapo Maaco paint job either. So, I was thinking I'd just do the prep work myself and then take it down to a nice body shop and have them shoot it with some good paint.
I guess the reason I'm posting this here is because I would REALLY appreciate it if you guys could lend me a hand, lend me some equipment (air compressor, sander, etc.), hook me up, share with your repaint prepping know-how, and be a good fellow Southeastern RX-7 owner, lol. The car will spend it's prep time in Lugoff, very near to highway 601, and we have a sweet garage in the backyard we will probably do the prepping in. So, If you can help me out this summer, you will officially be on my "People that are 'da bomb'" list.

it looks like the hood, the roof and the back hatch need to be sanded all the way down.. the rest of the body just needs wet sanded.. when you get all the money make an oppontment to have it painted, a few days before it goes in take everything off the body you can.. like the sidemarker lights.. tail lights.. trim and the rubber aroung the window.. and stuff like that.. it will make the paint job look better..
