Rally - Save Hialeah Park!
Please try and not flame for this.. this is a good cause my friend is fighting for and I'm just trying to help out! I'm sure some of us have great memories of this great park and a lot of you enjoy AutoX-ing there.. so if you can please go!
SAVE HIALEAH PARK RALLY, SATURDAY MARCH 10th, 2pm!
Hialeah Park Race Track (1925), one of the most beautiful race tracks in the world, is in danger of being redeveloped as housing and retail stores. Join us, the Citizens to Save Hialeah Park, Saturday, March 10th at a Rally to Save the Park. We must preserve Hialeah’s “Central Park,” the only nationally significant green space of its kind in Hialeah. Let’s show the owner of the park and our elected leaders that it is time to stand tall and Save the Park, the parcel of land our city founder James H. Bright donated to Hialeah for public use.
Significant Facts:
•Hialeah Park put our city on the map in its heyday. It hosted
famous horses such as “Seabiscuit” & tourists including U.S.
presidents & world leaders.
•It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places
(1979) and deemed eligible for designation as a National
Historic Landmark by the Secretary of the Interior (1988).
•It has been designated a sanctuary for the American
Flamingo, originally imported from Cuba, by the Audubon
Society.
