cool man, i appreciate it. there are a few bad spots, like where a battery puked all over the front quarter. but shouldn't be too bad. got work to order a welder so it'll be available soon. one of the guys is a metal worker and the other a welder. but will ask for some advice down the road, saw the work youve been doing on skylance's.
laters more to come, with any luck, engine and tranny are out tonight (if all our girlfriends will let us

Smile March of '78 Build date SA owner

Glad to see the SA's finaly getting another chance at Glory

I'm doing my '79 GS to '79 GSL-SE project:

She needs alittle rust repair as well.... mainly in the wheel well and surrounding areas inside the car. Minute rust on the exterior!

I'm doing a swap out to bring her up-to-date with the GSL-SE since she was the SA's GSL-SE of her 3 years as the SA GS model metaphorically speaking of course.

Her swap consists of:

-GSL-SE Power windows
-GSL-SE Rearview mirror with Map light.
-GSL-SE Power Mirror, yes only one mirror, drivers side
-GSL-SE Electric gas door opener
-GSL-SE Rear wiper with squiter
-
GSL-SE Newer carpet used
-GSL-SE '85 Dash
-GSL-SE Vents with Fresh Air Ducts from an '85 GSL-SE
-GSL-SE Leather Seats
-GSL-SE Leather Door covers with map pockets
-GSL-SE Full Suspension
-GSL-SE Brake Booster and Master Cylinder with all connecting hard and soft lines
-GSL-SE Clutch Master Cylinder
-GSL-SE In car Wiring Harness
- '79 GS to '85 GSL-SE Electronic Ignition with Direct Fire from '88 SE
- '88 4 port 13B from SE with T2 Tranny. * Later on down the road*

--Last but not least.... GSL-SE Badge for the back left or should I leave that off?

Does this qualify as a '79 GSL-SE ?

What do you guys think..... If I had a camera I would snap a few pics but alas I do not.
================================================== =====

Here Here to the SA Crew, the few the proud the '78-80 SA's Keeping the Heritage so no other RX-7 will forget its past no matter how great.

Cheers,

i totally agree. the point of this restoration is for race purposes. will be Barely street legal, just to drive to a track. going to rock out the 12A just to show how bad *** alittle 1.1 can be. the only badge we're gonna keep if the little Rotary Engine one on the back. i like your idea of the GSL-SE on the SA ( my puerto rician friends call it "the 5 letter" or "cinco lettra")
and you need a camera, wanna see some pics. the SA's will rock out again!
were you the one at the gap that said he was gonna put the "SA-13B-REW-GSL-SE" or something like that on the back?

no, I wasn't at the gap. I wish I were though. I didn't have the money to take a vacation like that at the time. I was busy buying parts for my '79 and '93. I will be next year with my '79 SA *refit*.

but that would be cool to put a REW engine in a '79... ungodly fast.

the color is charcoal grey. but is faded glory... she needs a repaint and undercarriage resprayed. I was thinking of rhino lining the under side of the car and the trunk space so no more rust will form and especially in the wheel wells.

Whad do you guys think?

Those are gonna be tight little cars! It will be nice one day when we've got all 3 of our SA's at a local meet!

It's usually just me around here, and right now, it's still in project phase. So, it hasn't been out lately. But that will change, hopefully by mid-summer I'll have her done!

Hmmm. I think I'll have to get a vanity plate. I dunno. Maybe all the SouthEast SA owners should come up with something and we should all get it with a slight variation! That would be cool! If we had to have license plates on the front of the car, I would take "!TI 3VOM" in a heartbeat! That way when I'm behind someone and they look in their MIRROR they would see "MOVE IT!" lol

Anyway, that's quite a way off. Good luck on the builds guys!!!

if you do the wheels wells in the liner make sure it matches the color of the car
and still LMAO at the "TI 3VOM"

I'm stuck on the wiring for the '83's 12A in my '79. I can't figure this thing out. how do I get the stock '79's engine wiring harness to work on the '83's 12A....the '83 is a complete long block with emissions and everything.

I'm guessing dump the emissions and plug and play as best you can. I just got to remember where everything went to.

Nice... get some deruster from advance auto parts... in bottle and looks green. spray it on the rust, let it turn black after 2 days. Then get a sander with some 500-600 grit sand paper and sand it away. Next get some 1000 gritt sand paper. sand over that to a smooth finish. spray it with some primer and paint and voila!

I have done this to my SA and it looks stunning.

Keep us posted and good work!
