AL Pitstop in Huntsville Ala any good?

Pitstop in Huntville Alabama is a "do it yourself garage." I checked them out, and they got all kinds of tools, machines and lifts. Tehy charge $25/hour if you use the lift.

sounds GREAT!!!

My problem is, if they are so great, then they should be super busy. When I've checked them out, no one is working on their car.

I would like to get around doing things half *** in the apartment parking lot. for instance, filling the engine, transmission, and trans axle on level ground. And undercoating the entire under body, and not just the areas I can get at while the car is on car ramps or jack stands.

I should'a stayed in the apartment parking lot. Everything was just going fine and fast, right up to where I noticed I was topping off the transaxle oil with antifreeze! The garage owner sold me 2 quarts of redline transaxle oil for $15/quart. I think he gave me a break on the price, and he didn't charge me extra time on the lift.

I got distracted talking to someone, was all happy about things going quick and easy, so wasn't concentrating. I tried to rinse out the fucked up transaxle oil, but I'm going to re do the transaxle and transmission oil ASAP with Lucas (it is the only premium gear oil that Autozone which is next door carries.

Now would a professional garage admit to such a dumbass mistake?

ok, DIFFERENTIAL. VW's and porsche's have transaxles.

Speaking of which, the transaxle oil got way dirtier after two years than it does in my RX-7's DIFFERENTIAL, and transmission.

thanks! Pitstop only charged me an hour, so I have 3 left. Next big project will be the clutch hydraulics. Or maybe the alternator. I left an interior light on over night, and left the a/c jumper cnnected. So I've discharged the battery to zero twice. Now it can barely turn the engine over. would two discharges ruin the battery?

Do you work at the madison one or huntsville one?

evo,

just got back from Wally World. They tested my battery, found it bad , with in warranty, gave me a brand new battery, a new three year warranty, and two more years prorated.

It was raining, so I had the walmart morons install the battery. They wouldn't let me stand in the garage, so I stood out in the rain with an umbrella watching them. Ya morons!! They could of easily loosened the terminals with a screw driver, instead they used a puller. They could of used the metric sockets that I brought with me, but they used their SAE wrenches, so the nuts are rounded now. And I had to ask them to put back the felt absorbing pads under the terminals.

When I got home, I checked their work. And guess what, the positive terminal was loose. Why am I not surprised!!

If I plan on keeping my car, I need to do all the work on it. Oh, and walmart's oil change is $31, they use castrol oil with a fram filter. Sheesh!! If they had so much trouble swapping out a battery, I wonder how many ways could they screw up an oil change.

And another thing, when they drove my car into their bay, they almost ran over an oil plug bolt that was left lying on the floor. Would of had a flat tire from that in a couple of months.
