hey all, im a new owner of an RX-7 lookin for some love...currently located in goose creek, sc...I just recently bought one from Preston - it's a 1985 RX-7 that had a rebuilt engine put in that was purchased from someone that had it lying around in their garage? maybe someone on these forums? more info would be appreciated and it would be great if the people near Charleston could meet up and drive over there at once. Thanks. Name's Kevin, btw.

dunno if i can make it sat. night now, car wont run. searchin thru forums makes me think it's flooded but at the moment, we have no actual garage and it's dark out and i lack the knowledge to further troubleshoot what's goin on.

Today: picked up alternator to replace old one because took it to advance auto and it needed to be changed. took it back because we find out a plug to the back of the alternator was d/c'd and when we connected it, the car would start and run fine with the old alternator still in, but the car would not cut off when we take the keys out, so we tried to wire up a toggle switch for it. didnt go so well because the car would start/not turn off with the toggle switch on and off. basically took off the switch rewired to how it was before and now it wont start, it will crank but wont turn over..

still kinda new to all this and so, we think it might be the plugs or the fuel pump fuse, those are the common ones mentioned i think? and also, could starting the car and turning the car off multiple times cause it to flood or cause any problems?

appreciate the help and sorry i posted here but this would be a reason i cant make it to the sat. night meet or even the dec 30th meet.

Thanks all.

its pretty hard to flood a 12a, but it can be done. i have managed to get one started when the carb was literaly filled with gas in all four barrels. as far as the car not cutting off, that sounds like your ignition switch, especially if you have been in there messing with stuff. without seeing teh car, it is really hard to diagnose, maybe jamin or chip will chime in and come help you. good luck.

Kevin welcome to the forum. I'm glad you got the car going again. If it was flooded (and it sounds like it was) then I recommend changing the oil asap. Also if you can't get it to cut off you could always stall it out temporarily until you get someone to help diagnose the problem.

I'm running 235s on the 8" rims I have up front, and 255s on the 9"s out back. You could definately fit more rubber on those wheels.

i know i can fit more, i just choose not to. i like the way it looks and wider tires up front wont clear the fenders. i could put 285s or 295s on the rims.

Official place, time, etc. for "Last great SC rx7/rotary meet '07"

I'd be interested in attending if I can but despite the name of this thread I'll be damned if I can figure out where and when it will be. Can anyone clear this up?

Thanks
Ray
