Great news....the used chip he found works. EMS is fully operational on the virtual test bench. And they didn't charge me anything for it, $90 to diagnose, repair and shipping back to me. I lucked out. Can't wait to get my baby running.

Thats good news!

SO what does it need to get running? IS the EMS harness already wired in?

Oh its ran before I just had problems with the ECU cutting out at 1600rpms. In the process of diagnosing the problem the ECU stopped connecting to my laptop. So I'm hoping the engine cut problem is cleared up with the ECU finally at 100%. I'll let you know when I receive it. It's on its way from CA.

Do you have the map saved to your laptop? Ecu might not have it anymore.

I do. I have a few very very basic maps. In the process of diagnosing the engine cut I went back to square one and started from scratch. I should have it by Tuesday afternoon if FedEx is on time. Won't have time to mess with it until Wed or Thurs.

junito1 10-24-14 08:57 PM

Is the car ready to attempt some maps and trying to start? Those basic maps can go a long way because every little setting is important. The next thing would be to sinc/zero timing.(very important) Then make some basic calculation for primary injectors. Shouldn't be too hard as long as you have a good base map and know how to zero timing.

ondabirdhouse 10-24-14 09:52 PM

Right. Timing sync is at the top of my list. Unfortunately I don't have access to one any more, friend moved away, so that's the next purchase I need to make. Everything else should be set. Fuel calculations, wide band settings, I've gone through them so many times it's a breeze.

junito1 11-02-14 09:25 AM

Any good news?

ondabirdhouse 11-02-14 07:19 PM

Broke my tooth on monday...seeing the dentist this tues. Holding off spending money on a timing light until I know how bad it is...co-pay for a crown is going to kill me.

WestJaxVert 03-08-15 09:59 PM

Dang...last post 11-2-14...so dead in here.

Does anybody know if that Wednesday night car hangout still happen? I know they used to do it at some Sonic....

TIA.

ondabirdhouse 03-09-15 03:34 PM

SOOO, Synced up the timing and the problem still persist. I noticed on the digital timing light that the voltage was really low while running. The battery started out at 13.6 and after a short time of idling it was down too 10.X volts which leads me to believe its the alternator. Its odd though, the voltage at alternator starts at 14.6 then after about 10-15 seconds it was down in the 13s range and kept falling. Never seen one do that before. So I'm debating buying a cheap one or having mine rebuilt in jacksonville with a higher output like IRP sells.

Hey! I'm fairly new to Jax and wondering if there is a rotary club/regular meets going on? I've been down to riverside a few times but looking for more meets/cruises

Jacksonville mazda owners club is where a large portion of the get togethers and meets occur.

We are a very active group with rotaries, miatas, 3s, 6s etc. We welcome everyone :)

Holy Sheet... There's still people on here I recognize... not that anyone remembers me.... it's been 5 years since I logged in here... YIKES!!

sloFC3S 06-05-15 12:54 PM

Hey guys, would anyone happen to know any reputable shops in town that does rebuilds?

Does Norman still do it? Also, how about Tony from Veloz ?

zzeeexlover 06-18-15 09:42 PM

Tony was who did mine when I still had my baby... It was pretty good... Least I thought so. I heard Norman got out of building them. But who knows how correct what I hear is anymore...

Jake_fc-tii 06-24-15 03:43 PM

Also, I would definitely love to see a meet! Not sure how many 7s are up and running locally but I see maybe a few at Cars and Coffee downtown.
