NC In Need of a rotary "mentor" in Charlotte

Hello All.

I'm new here and new to the world of rotaries. I'm located in Charlotte NC and I'm looking to buy my first rotary-powered car.

I'm considering a gen 1 or Gen 2 and would like to keep is someone simple as I'm looking for this to be a fun daily driver so I'd definitely like something I can wrench on myself. I have played with cars for a long time and currently have a '70 Dodge Charger R/T and 71 Jag E-type in the stable.

Basically, I'm looking for advice. What I should look for, what I should avoid, etc. and would like to be able to pick the brain of someone who is close by. Like I said, I'm in completely unfamiliar territory with rotaries so I'll be asking boatloads of questions. Any help would certainly be appreciated.

Your best bet might be to show up to the rotary rally in your hometown of Charlotte this Saturday

Where in the Charlotte area are you? If you come out to Charlotte Cars and Coffee theres usually a few rotor heads there and we try to park together if possible. 1st gens, 2nd gens, FDs, and a number of RX8s usually.

I can't make the meet tomorrow but you could start there as well.
