i hear the fans off a taurus work quite well. I've never used one, so I dunno. That's just what I hear.

Talking FYI Elec fan

I happen to have way more experience with this than I would wish on any RX. I was having the sneaky overheating problem when the fan clutch starts to go and it caused me to pop a motor. So after much research I came up with the Electric fan out of a Ford Escort. I believe it was a 1993, but any how that is the body style. The shroud bolts right up on the drivers side to both of the bolts where the old shroud connects. The passenger side requires a small fabricated mount made from a strip of metal approx. 1/8" x 1" x 4" and bend as needed for the top mount on the elec fan shroud. This fan moves more CFM than the Flex lite I bought from Napa for $130. The Ford fan cost me $25 at the salvage yard and as everyone knows there are plenty of these Escorts at the yard. lol The thermostat can be purchased at an auto parts store for about $50; any less $$ and you might "Get what you pay for." It is apretty easy install and it looks great under the hood. I'll post a pic on the forum for you. Good luck and hope this helps!! Any questions just PM. Charles

well i think your main problem is that you don't have a shroud so you're not pulling air through most of the radiator. like 2slo2go says the shroud on that ford fan fits almost perfectly.

That Elec fan you have will not cut it. The shroud DOES make all of the difference also the amount of air the fan can effectivly move in Cubic Feet per Minute a.k.a. CFM... A larger diameter fan will also improve cooling. One other problem I see in the picture is that the fan is mostly on the driver's side and it is actually hotter on the other side of the radiator. Cheapest way to test this would be to just move it over to the passenger side of Rad and if that doesn't help enough then you could also put a "pusher" fan on the front of the radiator. You will probably need a larger alternator unless you have the 90 amp on the S5s or upgrade to the 3rd gen 100 amp. Another thing is that the more boost you are pushin through the motor the higher the temp is anyways so maybe your car is just going to run a tad bit hotter than normal. You probably know most of what I just said, but it doesn't hurt to reiterate. I recommend the Ford fan... my $0.02

On a side note, be sure you run an inline fuse on the fans wiring. Wouldn't wanna pop your new fan! Personally, I use a 10amp fuse.

You should run a thermostat unless you want the fan to run constantly. Keep in mind that a bigger alternator might be needed if you have an S5 and WILL be needed on S4s. Also a good ground wire kit will also help out. The problem I'm trying to save you from, dimming headlights.

Be sure that if your fan in mounted on the engine side of the radiator, that the blade direction is PULLING air through the radiator, tword the engine, and not in reverse. You can remidy this, by obviously, switching negative to positive.

the black magic fan that i have has a shroud and a thermostat built into it... if i remember right it pulls 28/2900cfm... i can feel it blowing air out of the back of the car after i shut the car off... the nice thing is that you can adjust the temp you want it to run at...
