Need A Good 2nd Gen Rx7 Mechanic, North Florida
Well, I've had this baby (Stock, 90 Vert) a long time (I must have some sentimental attachment because it can't be worth what I have already done). I thought I would revive her, so I had a rebuilt engine and standard trans put in...long ugly story... but the shop had a hell of a time getting it started after the RR and it ran rough thereafter, then soon... NOT AT ALL, DEAD. I called the shop and "they claimed" I had a bad engine and basically said I was screwed...I think so, but for different reasons then they thought. It seemed like I was getting some backpressure prior to it going toes up...it died at about 55 miles an hour and didn't start thereafter. A little research and my guess is the CAT(s) need replacing, maybe the injectors too but definitely the cats. Then there are other odds and ends that still need tweaking, Break Master cylinder, the clutch slave has a leaky line, A/C Compressor is free but has a leak or something, drivers door handle need replacement (I have the part) and a tie rod is toast and an alignment will be required.
God knows what these guys ajusted to get it going so it likely needs a retune. But I fear since it has been sitting for nearly a year (in my garage) and I worry about the apex seals, they likely need an over night lube prior to startup...that is, after I get the CATs and exhaust worked on. It is a triage situation, I have to spend money to take care of the back pressure prob, then before I spend any more I want to make sure it will run and figure out what it will cost to get everything else right...I'm already in deep, as you may have guessed.
Other than "all that" the interior is in great shape and body just has minor surface wear. Have a new top ready for install too. I'm busy as hell lately and have little time to work on it so I need a mechanic that can handle everything and ballpark everything ahead of time...A Mechanic In Northwest Florida or LA (Lower Alabama). It is either going to be back to near perfect or the ultimate parts car. By the way it has 114k original miles...NEED SOMEONE THAT KNOWS 2ND GENS UP AND DOWN AND ANY WHICH WAY YOU CUT IT. HELP, HELP, HELP! AND THANKS IN ADVANCE.
