Hey everybody, I live in Murfreesboro and bought my first RX7 about 3 months ago, an '88 GTU. My sister has been driving it while I've been deployed to Iraq and the engine has blown. I've been looking for a new motor for it and have decided on a turbo 13B and I just had a few questions.

1) Will I need to replace the wiring harness, ECU and motor mounts? If so how difficult might it be?
2) Will I need any kind of special tools?
Does anyone know if the spacing for the studs are 5x100 or 5x114?

Any help would be appreciated.

 

Converting an S4 (86-88) Non turbo to a turbo is a bit harder than a S5 (89-91).
My advise is to rebuild the non turbo motor and enjoy the car while your looking for a Turbo rx7.
You will need the ecu, harness, several other sensors and what nots, tranny, Drive shaft, rear chunk, etc.
Again it is alot harder than most think if your planning on running off the factory turbo computer.
Special tools? Well that depends on what you have or don't have.

As for the lug pattern it is 5x114.3

if you want to turbo it, i have loads of most everything you would need to convert, except the motor (unless you want a real one.), and a few odds and ends, but most every important thing.

from 800 to 1500 depending on what exactly is wrong with your motor.
Good thing is S4 parts are easy to get and can be built in a few days.

Due to the odd work schedual we have at work I was still asleep, sorry I didnt make it out. The RE5 is awaiting a carberator rebuild but not till I have extra cash and spare time to haul it to Manchester. I did just rebuild the vaccume controlled petcock tonight at work though. Things are finally comin together, I just now got her cleaned up again from the nasty trip to Deals Gap.

Hey guys, I dont think Ive ever posted in this thread but Im going back home for a week on May 4th(Murfreesboro) and Im sure Ill be hanging out with some of my friends and have never really met any RX7 guys in TN. I Dont know if any of you guys know a korean guy named Eric with the Black 35R STi but Ill mainly be hanging out with him and would like to see some of the 7's down there.

 

Going to be working at the house all day tomorrow (wednesday) if anyone want to come over and give a hand.
Will be pulling motors, installing one, etc. Trying to finish up before the baby girl gets here. Just call me and we can get some beer,coke,pizza.
