Miami Zoom Zoom Live - TOMORROW!
Miami Zoom Zoom Live - TOMORROW!
This is kind of late to post this or maybe everybody already knows but tomorrow and Sunday is Zoom Zoom Live in Hialeah, this years's version of Mazda Rev It Up, which was a blast last time. You get to beat the crap out of the new MX-5 and a stick RX-8 for free. There is a competition at the end of the day and you're ranked according to your time. Here is the link. I am going at 9:30 am tomorrow (Saturday) to ensure I am the first one to break second gear in the cars. It's fun all who can should go. It's a big Mazda thing. It's important to register online (easy) to ensure your place and a short wait in line. I'll see some of you tomorrow hopefully.

I went to the Miami Rev it Up last year and my last time trial of the day was hurt because I had to slow down because track officials were walking around WAY too close to the course
My time is 10/16 @ 12:00

. The only one I did good on was the time matching. You had to run this course in exactly 30 seconds in any Mazda vehicle you want. The first time I drove a Mazda 6 and I cheated because we had a stopwatch and I did 30.08. The second time I drove the minivan and I was pissed because I overheard this guy saying that it was a piece of crap (after running 34 sec with his shitty driving) so I ran the course in 27 seconds. It was a blast even though the food sucks. You get free T-shirts and food and they take a pic of you and post it with your time online. You get to go as many times as you like. I am going tomorrow also. And yes the staff does walk really close to the sliding cars as if they're not worried about getting hurt.

Great report!
Those guys are going to get killed. I am not slowing down for crap this time. The SpeedSource drivers had some very impressive times. What are the end of day prizes?

Match Time 30 sec - Valerie did 30.09 b/c I was reading time off the watch. I went as fast as I possibly could in the Mazda 5 and got 26
Golf ball spill - Val and I both got 26's
Time Trial - Val got 31 and I only went once, but it was a blazing 27.5 sec!!! The SpeedSource guys got 27.5 and 26.8. Time to beat was 28.2
I would have tried harder if I knew you could win the Bose Wave Radio.

Congrats on the good runs. Today we did a lot better. We showed up at 8:15 and got a 30 minute lesson from the "School of Zoom" dude, who then let me drive the RX8 with traction and stability control off (a first). He basically said that drag racing has taugh me some habits that makes me suck at autocross. Then we did the golfballs where Martha whipped me time after time getting 28's to my 30 second time without spilling any. Then we proceeded to the "match 30 seconds course" where she got 30.7 twice and I ran like four consecutive 27s despite driving the van with the a/c on and slamming the brakes on purpose before the end. Then I said screw it and left with a 26.4 in the Mazda6 with my wife in the car. At the Performance Challenge she instanly improved her time by running low 33 seconds twice in the automatic and finishing with a best time of 31.6. There was only one girl faster then her today, a toothpick that ran a 29.8. I ran 28.9 twice, and then drove the automatic with my wife in the car and the rock station blasting to the tune of 28.8 (not bad for automatic and 2 people). There were many people way faster than me. Overall we had a blast, and can't wait for next year.

It was a fun day at the zoom zoom live, i was abusing the **** out of that miata i tried not to wipe out to get a good time, but something you just feel like taking it sideways; my best time was 29.2 and worst was 30.8. the rx-8 was cool only it was a one time deal atleast i grinded 2nd gear. i was chillin with outkast, he got lucky with the rx-8 course he tried hard in the miata. looking forward to next year

Well, I went Saturday morning.
I started out with the performance Miata challenge and had a 31 second time my 1st try. Then I was stuck in the starting lane right before my 2nd run because the timers went offline so I had a "practice lap" after it started raining again and I was power sliding through some turns. I went right again since it didn't count and this time I was sliding even more but didn't spin out, but the time wasn't recorded either.
Then I got a 30.44 with a Mazda 5 on my first and only try (very boring).
Off to the RX-8 also boring 1st in a manual, jumped into the empty automatic lane and was talking to the guy in the passenger seat from Mazda how unrealiable the rotaries are and why it would be the downfall of the RX-8
Went to the golfball Miata section and after I lost the first ball, I literally went "***** out" and got a 19 second score and luckily not dissqualified. Next try, I also lost a ball late in the course.
