Ryan,
I'm disappointed to read such a thing. I hate drama but I guess I should explain to all those to clear things up.
First of all, like several others who attended the Rotary Revolution 2004 (RR), I was disappointed in the weather and the outcome of the event. And also to explain the whole paint issue. I kept that info just amoung the Alabama club members and few others that I knew from the forum. I mentioned that incident on this forum (which now no longer available) only to suggest how RR could be improved in 2005.
Incident happened because someone at the RR refused to listen to me, put the shoe polish on, and due to rain it ran down and was embedded onto my paint (newly painted less than 6 months old). Like anyone, it upseted me to think about it knowing it could of been avoided.. I'm sure anyone else who spent thousands on a new paint would understand. At that point, Mike (MichRX7) called me at work and we chatted about the incident and I suggested what I thought would better RR (approximately 2 hour conversation). Few days later, I saw that few Forum members calling be a "*****" or "whiner" because I posted about my shoe incident. After I responded to their post, literally less than 15 minutes later, the whole entire thread was deleted. I check to see who was on the RR forum, it was MichRX7. I PM'd him to see what had happened, he said he was speaking with Ryan (BOOSTD 7) and that there were too many negative comments. But 15 minutes after my post and when others calling me a ***** and a whiner was left on for days (I think 9 days)... Hmm... that was interesting..
Ryan, I had good relationship with you in the past and I did not want to cause any issue... Yes, I had issues at last RR and because of that, I am not going to attend any future events there. I've explained my reason to Mike (MichRX7) during my conversation. I tried to keep out of you and your relationship with MichRX7.. But seeing what had happened so far on this thread makes me wonder.
Far as you asking me to change the date.. Its up to others who are thinking about attending this event. But as of now, its listed on the 'Tail of the Dragon' site, Nopistons' site, and thru out this forum. Also, Date was picked to avoid heavy traffic during later season (I've talked to several members who experienced Deals Gap and all suggested that earlier in the season was better), and also to pick cooler time of the year (besides. RX8 guys are going to the gap during the fall). Its either the weekend of RR or 2 weeks before, 1 week after, 3 weeks after (week before memorial day), or memorial day weekend.
I hope I clear few things up... or this causing more drama.. I'm just trying to help people save money and due something fun and unique.. Did I mention that this event is FREE?? Rain or shine?? Why is that RR has to be biggest event?? Wasn't Stock Seven also a FREE event?? Geez.. Should we move the date to April 22-24th?? Date was specifically picked to avoid problems..

Since starting the first "2005 SE forum get together" thread, only couple have acturally mentioned about the conflict with RR.
Also, if you read this thread, maybe one might of made comment about its conflict with RR. I'm sorry you feel that this event will affect RR, but like others have suggested, I have NO intention of going to RR and very small percentage of people acturally showed up to RR from SE area.
you know, it would prolly be a "conflict" if it were on the weekend of RR, but i dont see anything wrong with it being a few weeks before RR. Do some people think that RR is so awesome that no rotary meets can take place a month before or after it? cmon! If you dont feel like you can handle 2 events in one month, just dont go to one of them. Then it isnt so much of a conflict.
The last of May is when the Z club goes IIRC, Coopers go a couple of weeks after our date. Also, Phil, I posted on a couple of local web sites, but the post on Nopistons was lost when the site went down.....again this weekend.
I'm still planning on attending the trip and NO I don't want to move the date either.
As far as RR, who invited them anyway? If I wanted to go to RR I would. Just because I'm doing this too, it doesn't mean I couldn't do both and believe me I work a crazy work schedule (rotating swing shift including holidays). You act like we couldn't get permission from our wives to do 2 events?!?!? All that said, I'm not going to RR, I heard it sucked last year and they had a big lack of planning on the "in case it rains" part. And I didn't hear that from a SE guy. Take your bitching and and talking behind people's backs to a sorority forum!
(I didn't want to say anything but you're bashing our get together so I had to give my opinion on your little get together.)

Far as your comment about RR.. First year was pretty cool because I was able to see few OH and IN 7 owners (as I lived in Cincy, OH before Bham, AL) and it was good to see bunch of 7's. But honestly, I had better time hanging out at the RX7store and doing interstate pulls with 10 other FDs, going toward Nocab's house at 3 in the morning.
This year's RR completely sucked because of the weather and also lack of planning. I felt horrible because I took a day of work, went up there, got my paint ruined, and made total of 16+ hours of drive time on a boring interstate drive. Don't get me wrong, best time was when us AL guys and Mark57 (from LA) cruising and hanging out. Hence I think Deals Gap will bring out my favorite part about going to Rotary events.... Caravaning and driving... And added bonus of nice scenic views (either view of nature or view of 50+ rotary vehicles).
^ huh... i think you quoted the wrong post herblenny. scott was agreeing that it should be kept on the same date and that the RR people are stupid for thinking it is a conflict... just looks like your yelling at scott so i figured i would straighten things out.
and yea, driving is mmmmmuuuuch more fun than walking around looking at cars

Yeah keep the date same as there are races and events in march and april besides RR which i too am not going to attend simply cause its too far to drive for what it is. There are ALMS races March 16-19 @ Sebring and April 15-17 @ Road Atlanta so those dates are deffinite conflicts too. People need to see that RR is not the only other thing going on.

To get back on track...
I am BIGTIME down for the Dragon. I first heard of the RX-8 club doing it last year, and it sounded like a BLAST - I was just about to get my FD then, so going wasn't feasible.
Barring some unforseen circumstance, I'll be coming.
Let's drop the drama and get back on track. Points from all sides have been made.

Sounds good Dale!!
BACK ON TOPIC!!!
I've contacted several vendors and hoping to hear from them soon.
Lets see whos going to be the first to sponsor this event!! I am going to put the sponsor vendors on the T-shirt and in order which they sponsor.
Also, there's going to be a mini run (for us to scoop out and talk to some locals).
It will be Jan of 2005. I will list that day once I found out about my schedule.

Yeah, January run will be a bit sketchy cause of the weather conditions, ice, snow ect ect. Um depending on the condition of my car and my wallet I might be able to meet you guys up there.

Its acturally 318 turns in 11 miles. I met a guy who accidentally went thru Deals Gap with his girlfriend and her parents and it was almost nausating to them.. I thought it was pretty funny.
Here are some pics of the 'Sweetheart room', your lady might like this, I think cost is 99 a night.

Of course, Im not sure how nice it is once you get there..
also check out this site for more pics and different choices.

I'm trying to work out a deal so that they will give us the off season rate, Since we are so close to the off season. If they go for it, than we will start the reservation.
As of now, we will get 30% off on the cottages and 20% off on the hotel rooms.
The manager is out and will let me know by tomorrow.
When you call in, you just have to mention that you are part of, "Mazda Rotaries at Deals Gap".
Also, Sole Sponsorship for this event is at work. If they sponsor this event, Lunch and Dinner will be FREE!! Also, door prizes will be given out. I will let everyone know who this sponsor will be once all the details are worked out. (Maybe by tonight!).

Im really keen on attending with my fellow SC club members but since this is labelled as a rotary event I feel I might get shunned for having a LS1 FD (dont feel like a repeat of the RR event) , is there a problem with me attending?
