Ok, I started this new thread to get more peoples attention, because, let's face it, after you see a thread so many times, it is easy to pass it by, and I basically think that everyone in the area should come to this meet to have fun, talk cars and eat food. im meeting gawendus13 close to where I4 merges onto I95. i dont know how ur going but if u wantto rideo ut with us make the ride ven funer.ac says hes not going to be able to make it so as of right now it looks like im going to be the only one from central fl making it. actually im from lakeland fl which is farther away from jax then orlando. im getting kinda excited though about this meet. should be alot of fun

I'll try and stop by on the way to the track in Lake City. What time will it start??

 

What kind of meats do we want on the grill? I can pick some of the stuff up, but I have to know what people want.

Like if hotdogs.. I get all beef for my family.. we're just that way.
If we want chicken wings, how spicy? I can prep the night before.
steaks? I want some help cause they would get expensive!!

Let me know.
Plus for the few of us that don't drink soda's I'll have plenty of water bottles with me in a cooler.

We only have 16 days, so you better let me know sooner than later, or I'll just show up with stuff I'll eat : P

 

I think steaks will get expensive and if someone wants them they should bring their own. That way, no one is left holding the bag, so to speak. Hot dogs ( we also eat beef dogs) and burgers are the easiest to grill, while wings can be ordered in batches.

I think that with as many of us that there are, we should each bring one or two items, unless you feel like bringing more. Also, we don't want to have too much left overs.... well some is ok

OF Course, this is just my opinion. I figure to have enough of each item for about 25 people or so ( unless the list gets bigger). THat way, even if we have a few more people, not everyone will eat every item ( I don't think) so there should be plenty of food.

That being said, any type of meat people want to bring is fine, I guess. We can take turns cooking unless someone prefers to be "king or queen of the grill".

Oh and since Elayne mentioned for those who don't drink sodas, I'll get a case of gatorade's...

ATTENTION!! I just got word back today that Lake Fretwell pavillions at Cecil Field had been previoulsy reserved.. There is a couple of other pavillions near the old entrance to Cecil Field that we can use. There are bathrooms and water and grills there as well. I will head back out there again to make sure they do not need reservations for these. I don't believe they do as they are not on the list on the City parks web sight. I will know more this afternoon.

If for some reason we cannot get these, I'll see what we can do for an alternative.

I'll post more as I find out.

Just talked to Russ (Quasar) today, he said he should be able to come. He says he's having trouble with his FC so he might have to take the FB or DD. I'm still coming, but I don't get off work till 3 so I'll should arrive there between 3:30-4pm. I want to cook something for the meet, but don't want it to waste away in my car for 8 hours so I'll probably bring something simple from the grocers like cookies or some other snacks. I'll take a walk around BJ's sometime this week lol.

 

Ok, I just drove back out to Cecil Field, and the two pavillions near the old main entrance are pretty nice... one has a big grill inside the pavillion and the other has the big grill out side.. I called the reservation info and they won't be able to tell me until Monday... Good thing is these pavillions aren't on the map, so should be ok. I'll find out for sure monday.

Ok, here is the deal. The pavillions at the old entrance are available, first come first serve. No reservations, due to the fact that there is not electricity at these (someone stole all of the copper wiring- that takes brass big ones )

I'll update the map to show how to get there, but here is the directions :

Turn south onto New World Avenue. There are two ways in: The very first right (looks like an old road immediately after the fence) takes you along the old perimeter fence to the old main entrance. Turn left , go about 1/4 mile, you will see the pavillions and softball field on left.

The second way in is: Turn south on New World Ave, follow around curve to the right. At the curve to the left, take the hard right(strait road to the north) Pavillions/softball field on Right.

I'm figuring on getting there early so we can claim the spot. I'll do some much needed waxing on my car while I'm waiting for people to show up. I figure an official start time of 1pm. That will give the out of town guys time to drive. If you want to get there earlier, so much the better. THere is no set time on when it finishes so people can come and go at any time they like.

Well, let's see... If Tracey comes, he will most likely be driving his massively turbocharged 327 cid ford powered FD, and if Brian has his done, he will be driving his turbo'd LS1 CYM FD. So, speaking for myself,.... I'll definately be looking forward to checking out your ride.

Tracey brought his out last meet, and the meet before that, someone brought out an LS1/6spd Miata. So yeah, I think you will be ok.
